turbo problems
I've had problems ever since i started my turbo project. I have a D16A6 with a T25 2G turbo. I first thought it was to much oil pressure to the turbo blowing out the seals. Later thought it was the oil return line. Two turbos later i'm hearing its the crankcase ventilation system. I have no line from the valve cover just an open breather. I'm looking at the breather kit from http://www.z10motorsports.com but dont want to spend it if its not needed. Any input?

Re: turbo problems (bryse68)
not sure what seals but its blowing oil through the intercooler and smoking out the exhaust bad when you boost on it.
i've been reading about the breather cans and was just thinking it was crankcase ventilation.

It looks like that turbo does have bad seals and would need rebuild. Assuming both turbo were ok before and had this issue after several days I would check your oil line setup. For your oil feed and what size hose or AN line your using and as for the return are you using gasket maker or OE gasket. as for your oil drain is it close to the top of the pan. Look for kinks on the lines as well. Too big of an oil line will have higher pressure to the turbo and for oil return being to low it will cause restriction of oil flow causing oil to go back up to the turbo, your seals and then your IC and engine. GL!! Post pic might be easier for others to help.

Re: (bryse68)
i am running an oil sandwich adapter and from there i am running a 3/8" line. At the oil adapter i have a coupling that i tapped the center in a bit so i could thread a holley #65 jet (.065) which is the least garrett will allow so i pretty sure i am fine there. I had my buddy tig weld my bung as close to the top of the oil as he could and i installed a 5/8" steel braided line from the turbo to pan. i dont see any kinks in that when put together either.
when i first started i had oil spraying all over and had no idea where it was comming from it was that bad. all under the car and all over the underside of the hood. so from all those problems i've replaced the oil pan gasket, restricted the oil feed line, and replaced the oil return line with the 5/8" steel braided line.

Re: (crxt25turbo)
even with the restrictor, a 3/8" line might be too big? Why are using that large of a line for the feed.
3/8" = -6an.
Most use 3an or 4an with restrictors...

Re: (gc8dc95)
my brother made it at work out of hydraulic hose so the actually fitting at the end isnt that big, i'm not familar with hydraulic hoses that much but at the end for the turbo the nut is 3/8" and the line i am sure is 3/16". still to big?
