Default Turbo Issues

Hmm..my turbo has been great for the past few days, minus the random cel codes. 99 Si stock internals, 255 intank fuel pump, dsm 450's w/resistors, 14b off a 93 Tsi, intercooler, dsm blowoff with internal wastegate and a Vafc for tuning. Conservative @ -35% across the board, until i make it to the dyno. Thing builds quick boost @ 3k and pulls great until ~7k. boosting only 5 to 6 lbs peak.

1st problem -

My redline is 8k and it seems to die around 7k I can watch my boost gauge actually drop from 6 to 5 psi the higher it climbs...

2nd problem -

Today, i was out cruising again and when I hit 4k my engine sounds like it is restricted, like you can hear it rev? You can actually feel the engine. Almost like its running on 3 cylinders

Any sort of help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks guys...

First your pressure drop problem is probably due to the size of the turbo, that turbo is kinda small for your engine.
Secondly it sounds like you may be running to rich, causing it to bogg

I think i can live with the pressure fall off, until i upgrade turbo's. But I can't live with the fact my engine is trouble revving. I would agree with theA/f mix, but yesterday it was fine, and today it seems like it can't breathe when it revs?? Nothing has changed...@ least nothing of my doing....

Please help....

check your oil.
what codes is it spitting out? perhaps the car is in limp mode due to one of the codes.

oil is fine. checked it. I was getting a code 13, barometric pressure. Vafc side effect. code 12 i think...primary o2 sensor. another a/f issue. reset the ecu, haven't come back yet. regardless...yesterday it was fine, was out cruising..nothing serious...came home..parked it...went to a friends house..10 mins away...and on the way home...went to boost and noticed it wasn't rev friendly....it would rev...but it sounded like it was "hurting" it....?

take out some fuel from 5k to redline. If your car runs anything like mine on the hack, your a/f ratios will dump below 11:1 around there. Run 5k-redline @ like -39 and see if that helps.

I tried that. No help. It just seems to be plugged up, like it can't get the exhaust gases out quick enough. Weird b/c it just happend all the sudden? Anyone have any ideas?

I think tomorrow i am going to unhook it before the cat and see how it runs. If it seems to be more peppier I know its my cat that is clogged.

Wish me luck...
