Turbo installed, falls flat on it's face - help !
I had some trouble with the fitment on my fmax kit (b16 kit fitting on a b18c1 and old, dented up FMIC, too long DP, etc etc etc) so I had InlinePro finish up the kit once I got the intake manifold (skunk2) and fuel pump (walbro) on. I picked up my car last night and quickly realise something is seriously wrong:
-The car falls flat on it's face at 4000rpm and REALLY doesn't want to rev any higher
-If the car does get the revs over 4k, I get a very loud whine & rattle coming from what sounds like the turbo. It doesn't sound like detonation but It could be a bad case of it.
-The CEL light is on, I checked the code and got "41 - Primary Oxygen Sensor - Heater Circuit Malfunction"
My setup is as follows:
1999 GSR, Stock Engine / Internals
Skunk2 intake manifold
walbro 255lph intank pump
missing link
fmax kit with their crappy mf2
2step colder than stock ngk plugs
ignition timing retarded 10 degrees
running a mere 5psi
any help/information is appreciated, thanks.

Have you checked to see if the o2 sensor is even plugged in. I have left it off before while working in that area, cranked the car and then realized what I had done.

Do you have any gauges? EGT, BOOST, A/F??? Maybe your leaning out around 4 grand. Maybe your clutch is slipping. Bring it back to Inlinepro and see what they say or come up with. You might have a huge exhaust leak. Did you use new gaskets? As for the sensor, make sure all the wires are plugged in and have no cuts on them. If they are fine and secured, your sensor might be bad and needs to be replaced. I might be wrong but is retarding to 10 degrees for timing overkill?? Also is your missing link clean? I heard sometimes when the missing link and check valves are clogged the car runs like crap. Let us know when you have the bugs figured out.

btw, you are retarded 10 degrees? i think rule of thumb says retard 1 degree per 2 pounds of boost. you also want to double check the missing link. 4k sounds right about when a turbo would spool up... if the missing link is upside down the car would still see boost and would give you a CEL.

On a 99 won't the primary O2 CEL put him in limp mode?

i agree w/ the timing retard being way too much. set it to .25 / lb. of boost. also double check the wiring for the btm and also the mf2, since they both tap into the distributor.

I talked to inline and decided to just go ahead and ditch the mf2 for an fmu setup for now and advance the timing a bit more towards stock. On the way out there, the car gave up and would not start all which I eventually found out was due to the fuel pump's connection had blown off. They are going to check on the O2 and pump tomorrow to make sure, ill tell you the results.
