Default D16 Turbo setup problems....Greddy kit.....HELP!!!!!!

OK so my friend just got his turbo kit on today and it was running fine, so we are headed home and it starts stuttering and putting, he has the greddy kit but with stock injectors and no fuel control, has a CEL which we think is because, the kit is for a 92-95 and its on a 96 ex y8 motor, so does anyone know what to do with the sensor that goes in the intake? pretty sure thats what the CEL is, and does anyone know why it stutters and putts? (sounds kind of like a backfire) and when it does this the BOV gets really loud so im guessing its not sucking in all the air and blowing most of it out, just worried now because when we got here the manifold was orange PLEASE HELPPPPPP

Someones gotta know something, ive been searching and all i can find is that the missing link is only to stop the CEL, but why is it stuttering and putting? will the missing link trick the intake mani into letting the extra air in for boost?HELPPPP

sounds like you are throwing the iac code, map sensor code, probably o2 code if you didnt extend the wires, and MOST DEFINATELY some sort of leaning out code, if you arent running any fuel management you shouldnt be boosting, go easy on it until you get something or better yet, dont drive it at all

just saw the manifold was running orange?? wtf you better get an egt gauge on there, the timing is probably severely retarded at this point, did you check the timing with a light? check how far off it is from btdc.

when you lengthened the 02 sensor did you legnthen the harness or actual o2 sensor wires? (female or male side )?

ive heard on this board that doing that throws off the resistance of the 02 sensor and can cause it to read terrible, (lean) so i would lenthen the actual harness wires instead.

This is Slammed95cord... CivicEX96 is the guy with the problem on his car...

but is that why its running so bad? its doing fine now i think, we turned the boost all the way down ( no gauge just adjusted the wastegate so no way to tell what its at) and he said it ran fine as long as he didnt get down on it, so i think we are going to hook up the fields hyper sfc thing and get the right missing link and see what happens, hes savin now for injectors, front mount and boost gauge...

he needs fuel management....

either fmu....injectors/afc...or hondata and injectors

other thing is.... is the base timing retarded(distributor).... and how much if soo..

the manifold was glowing you said.... thats no good.

Your car is in limp mode b/c you have no missing link. If you car even sees a half pound of boost it will go into limp mode.
Hook the AFC up and you will not need a missing link. As far as the sensor you wondering where to put, just make a small hole in the connector that connects your piping to you intake mani. and plug it in there.

ok so he has no fuel management at all(installed)... not even FMU

and timing is stock(NO GOOD)

ok first.......dont drive the car

second.......either hook of the afc, or get an fmu in the mean time

third.........retard ignition timing.....take it back to 10 degress at the distributor..... if its more boost than 5psi.. and its still having issues take it back to 8 degress

fourth.......regap NEW 1 step colder sparkplugs to .030

start there

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Junglesnake &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Your car is in limp mode b/c you have no missing link. If you car even sees a half pound of boost it will go into limp mode.

as far as the IAT sensor....if you dont make a good seal it will leak....thats not prime either....hang it off....as long as its connected you wont get a cel...and it should atleast read ambient air... which isnt perfect but it will work...

trust me thats the least of your worries

Im running a 92-95 blue box on my y8 and no problems. Re check your wires and make sure you solder em and not use butt connectors !!!!
The only time I pop and sputter and mis is when its time to change plugs... Make sure you gap em at 32 and not the stock 44. Plug fouling is common for me I change plugs once every 2-3 weeks due to the fouling issue for some reason

Well doesnt sound like your running the emanage or blue box or a missing link which means your car(MAP sensor) is seeing boost(positive manifold pressure) which is a big no no. If the car sees that it wont run right. Missing link and fmu or SAFC and injectors for hack.....something hondata, uberdata will fix this.
