Default Turbo and Downpipe Selection

I know this gets beat to death on here, but i still would like your guys input. I've done a lot of research and i'm just wanting to see everyone's opinion. I have a turbo d16z6 and i'm looking to get a new turbo, but i'm working on a LS/Vtec swap as well. The turbo i have now is pretty much shot, so i wanna get one that i can run until i can do this swap. My plans are 400 on pump for the B swap with full forged internals and probably sleeves. Mainly as a DD and some weekends of drag. So my turbo's i have been thinking of is the 5431B by Precision in .63 AR or a Garrett T3/T4 57 trim in .63 AR as well. Any input would be appreciated. I'm trying to stay around the 6-700 dollar range for a turbo.

Also where does everyone recommend getting downpipes at?

Thanks in advance.

For 400whp, a Silver Surfer may not be a bad idea. PM TheShodan and ask him what he thinks...he may also have another suggestion that better fits your needs

I PM'd him two days ago cause he seems like the go to guy but i haven't heard back from him.
Do you guys think a .63 AR is to big for the D motor?

He'll get back to you at some point.

The .63 is fine. The flow rate for Hondas is mostly on the top end, which with a .48ar would start to choke off. The turbo itself is large for a D series. You could stand to go a bit smaller as you had originally said...TheShodan has a few other turbos based on the GT32 series. I used to run his GT3255b on a stock GSR and it was a wicked little turbo. It made 315whp/216wtq at 10.5psi and had a lot left to give...full boost by 37-3900rpm

That is pretty impressive. I just wanna make sure i have some room to grow, even if it means some lag on the D before the swap.

-57 trim
-60 trim
-Borg Warner S256/S258
-GT3071r/GT3076r
-GT32xx
-Silver Surfer

The list goes on...you have to narrow down what you want and figure out exactly what you're willing to spend. Each turbo has its ups and downs...

Sorry i guess my main question is are those i listed (5431B and 57 trim t3 t4) to big to run on a D. I'm looking at spending 6-700 so turbos like the silver surfer are a little out of my price range. Or if there are others you would recommend.

To make 400whp on pump gas on a D series requires a turbo that is "too big." Personally, I would forsake a bit of power in lieu of some added spool and look at something a bit smaller like a 50 trim .63ar. The two turbos you have listed should make the power you want, but may not be the most fun streetable turbos for a D series.

I'm sorry for my delay. I've really been pushing it for these new designs. I have a lengthy PM for the OP.. Just didn't want him to think that he was ignored. I'll message him this evening.
