I ran 0.0035" when I had Supertech pistons. 81.50mm bore and made 400 whp. There was a small amount of piston slap when it was really cold, but that gap worked well for me.

.0045" is right inline with that bore/power level in my opinion.

I had supertechs on an 85mm 12.5:1 all motor at .0039 and they are LOUD. Still running good years later but it makes everyone say wtf. Obviously way worse when cold but if I could do it over i'd run .0025-.003 for sure

just got mine built with 81.5mm bore 10.5:1 (Ls-vtec) and i used the one that was for moderate turbo (sorry i cant remember the gap right off the top of my head) when its cold i can hear a slight slap but no problems so far and it just got on the dyno yesterday. i should be at about 460 whp, tune will be done this morning we ran into a fuel pump issue we got resolved.
