Re: turbo d16z6 (hold your breath)
the longevity of hte engine is in direct relation to the quality of tune... but that much whp on a stock block sohc thats daily driven will be rough...

Agreed.
However, depending on the parts used as well as the condition of the motor it is currently in...I really wouldnt expect it to last long AT ALL...especially at 300 whp. 250 is seriously pushing it.
It has been tried, and proven to be done...but how long its been on that much power is still the question.

The thing is, if you own a boosted car and you are going to taco bell are you going to hit boost every where you go. I daily drive mines which I sometimes stay in vaccum.
2 me I rarely hit boost. If I do, it be about 5lbs max. when Im racing it be about 10psi.

300+ aint a biggie... how much will it last? take a number... its a lottery some last a lifetime some last 2 days... tunning is big but if a rod is going to give a rod is going to give...

most people stay below the 250whp range on stock D engines because the rods are the size of a toothpick...new rods and Vitaras and you'll be safe into the 400s

You are correct about new rods/pistons and you'll be safe in the 400's.
However this dude is asking about jumping to 300 whp on a stock block...im sorry, but the life of that motor is at serious risk with that power being stock.

Im sorry, but 300 is a biggie on a stock block. Especially 300 +
It's a lot easier to SAY you can bring it to 300 whp rather than actually do it. Tuning or not, that motor will not last THAT long...not saying it wont last at all...just it will be limited.

Re: turbo d16z6 (nihad)
tuning is not the key. Otherwise car manufacturers would make 200hp stock on those things to begin with. it can only take so much power and pressure before parts fatigue and break. No tuner in the world is going to make a stock/turbo 300hp d16 last. 300hp would be the absolute, run for your life, max you can make on those things stock.

Ahem...Jeff Evans has a Stock block d16z6 making over 300 for quite some time now.

I guess my wording wasn't clear enough...300whp is too much for 99.9% of stock D's for a daily. My point is that if you spend a mere $1000 on a Vitara/Eagle rebuild, your power potential about doubles....
If you want this to be reliable, stay under 250whp or have a few other Ds on hand and get good at swapping them....

Should be no problem, If the motor is in excellent condition (good compression, etc..). A good standalone ems, good driver (car not raped like an ape), meticulously taken care of, and the most crucial, an awesome tuner, no doubt you can hit those numbers on a stock d16. If I had the knowledge I have now, years ago I would be driving a built d-series custom turbo kit with a GT28rs.

Im sorry, but I can't agree with you on this...300whp regardless of the parts used/tuning done, it will not last on a stock block..period.
Jeff Evans is one out of HOW MANY boosted D's that have lasted at 300 whp?...he's proven it can be done, but I certainly wouldnt make a habbit of trying to accomplish this on a regular basis.

if this doesnt work then search epic tunning in the forced induction and u will find this tread.

Re: turbo d16z6 (nihad)
Kinda reminds me of the 540whp stock B16 that was on here. After a couple dyno and drag passes it cracked some ringlands - and still kept going.
Given a great tune and a great driver, it will last a long time.
Given a so-so street tune w/ 1 dyno pass and an impulsive driver (daily war machine), a week would be a stretch.
If you just want 300whp, slap in vitaras and TT rods, or swap in a low-milage B-series.
