Default Turbo/Air Filter Dilemma

I’m about to install a new set-up into my CRX (Mk2)
This will include Neukin QP manifold and hybrid GT30.
Now my question, the inlet on the turbo is 4”
I’m left with a small area to fit a filter (being a CRX)
I’m sure I can find a HKS dome type that will fit (maybe) but I’m really concerned about heat soak?
Not interested in mesh over the inlet, must be a filter.

The intercooler fills most of the front grille so air flow is restricted, only thing I can think of is cold air feed, any other suggestion?

Oh, I don’t want to cut the chassis leg to run the filter into the water bottle cavity, 4” hole in this part of the chassis isn’t really advisable, my insurer would laugh at me in the event of the unquestionable happening.

Thanks guys

Do you still have your windshield washer reservoir in?

IMO I wouldn't be concerned with heat soak on a foam type filter. The air is going to be moving thru the filter far too fast to be affected by heat soak. Besides, that's what the intercooler is supposed to help with, right?

Sometimes space can really limit what we do :/

if your attaching the filter to the turbo, make sure you get a high quality filter like k&N or something. The heat from the compressor will transfer to the filter and might cause the filter to come apart then get sucked into the turbo.

"NEUKINAS
Do you still have your windshield washer reservoir in?"

Yes, and as per my comments, I don’t really want to start cutting holes in the chassis leg, unless you have another idea?

I was thinking of making up some form of cold air box and running it into the top of the windshield washer reservoir cavity, obviously, remove the reservoir and make a hole in the bumper for air flow.
Found a company that sell heat shielding, its easy to work with, pliable although strong, comes in 3 various specs depending on heat range.

http://www.nimbusmotorsport.co...D=252

This could be formed into a cold air box to shroud the filer element and figure a way to pipe in cold air or form the shield to pick up from the windshield washer reservoir cavity.

Just ideas at the moment,

Unfortunately even the K&N filters with the rubber tops succumb to this. You need to get a Green filter with a SS top on there or run one of these http://store.summitracing.com/...w=sku and check it periodically.

Thank you,

Not a great deal of room to work with in the CRX, new down pipe and screamer will be fabricated next week, once that work is finished I will have everything required to complete the build, then I will work out just how much/little space I have.

Just thought I would ask if other have found solutions, I guess most just fit an element and alllow the IC to do the rest.
