Troubleshooting B18C1 Turbo has idling problems with current setup *SOLVED*
Can’t get my b18c1 turbo build to run.
It has sat 2 whole years in my garage while I was away for work.
I had it idling perfect last week, turned it on and off multiple times that day.
As soon as I tried to back it down the driveway in reverse, it died and won’t idle anymore.
It will idle with throttle given, but pops and bangs and puffs smoke.
Quick breakdown:
Wiseco/Eagle bottom end
Edelbrock victorX intake manifold
Rc1000’s
Walbro 255
Hondata s300
Hondata 4bar Map
Unsure what turbo it is.
I’ve done 2 compression checks. All cylinders in the 190’s.
Done 2 leak down tests. No issues
I am getting fuel at the fuel rail, no problems there.
Fuel has been drained and replaced with 91 octane.
Spark plugs replaced (yes I am getting spark I have checked that)
What could it be? Injectors? Bad MAP sensor?
When the car is trying to idle (with throttle applied and very poorly, when I remove the MAP from the Intake manifold it continues to run the same no changes).
Maybe it’s the MAP?
Its strange that it idled so well multiple times in a day then the time I go to drive it, dies.
Next step is downloading Hondata to a laptop and plugging it in, that may give me more clues.
No engine codes/lights on the dash.
Thanks guys. It’s been years since I’ve been on here since I did a d16 vitara turbo build and an h22 ej1 build.

It sounds like by the end of the driveway it was warming up , and thus fell out of tune.
Are you tuning it? With what settings? upload a Datalog or base map .
How were you planning on tuning it ? No laptop , or dataloging.
There is a procedure for checking the MAP sensor, do it if suspect.

I'm suspecting fuel or tune related. No cel=no sensor problem. Check map settings and TPS calibration in Hondata, hell, try loading a base map to see if it works out. Sitting for that long takes its toll.
I was also thinking fuel. I know you verified fuel at the rail, but what about fuel pressure? Verify all 4 injectors are firing.
Yes.. Verify pressure, not just whether or not the pump primes. The pump can still prime and provide fuel to the rail and all that good stuff but still cause a no start issue because it's not working right; ask me how I know this. Lol!
