from my experiance with ARP studs, it's best to torque them down 10-15 ft/lbs before installing the head.

i know the instructions say hand tight, but i have had problems when there hand tight and never had a problem with torqued.

Agreed. I've had headgasket problems when not doing this^^^. I believe it's from the stud turning farther into the block and getting a false torque reading.

i put the nut on the stud to get some grip and i turned it by hand hand until they stop by putting a wrench on the nut and turning it by my finger

I didn't have any of the moly lube when I went to install mine so I went to 15ft/lbs.

Remember to blow out the holes with compressed air, chase the threads, and blow them out again.

Torquing them into the block was a pain in the *** at first until I figured out how to do it.

Put a closed end wrench on the stud, put a nut on upside down, put a nut on the correct way and tighten them together. Torque the stud to 15ft/lbs and then remore the top nut. 2nd will come right off.

Next question is, what are the torque values when installing the head to the block? I know its a 3 step process.

10-15 lbs before installing the head huh? I've been following arp's specs, hand tight, and I am on my 3rd cometic head gasket in 7000kmiles, so I guess I will try doing the 15 ft lbs torque with this 3rd gasket, hope this is it.

defiently torue them down like 10-15 lbs before installing because the instructions say HAND TIGHT but hand tight to me ,you,....and anybody else may be different...especially considering chances are oil will be on your hands.....do this and you should have no problems.
