Default too much stress on rods?

my friend is going to be getting a b20z, he's going to build up alittle with cams, cam gears, head and fuel stuff,..try to get it around 150-160whp n/a..and then was going to turbo it then leaving the bottom end stock, boosting around 10-12 for short sprints and 5-6 for daily driven..i told that that would be too much on the rods and that they would break..am i right or could stock internals handle that? someone clear this up for me, please?

stockers with rod bolts should be sufficient

stock rods will hold quite a bit of boost, one bad compresssion stroke and knock will kill the whole motor though. I ran stockers at the track once they held 15psi on c16 fuel.

so even with the head and fuel upgrades, the block could still handle boost..man, would this be a killer setup!

the rods will be fine. you should worry more about pistons at 12 psi.

well, he's thinking about getting 62404..i just read that this is not good with boost? but how about in a b20 with boost, will these lose power?

Nice piston... I'll see if I can one up you and get a picture of Overboost's MR2 piston from the early-mid 90's... The dish went super-liquid at 534whp and ran down the side of the piston through all the rings... He said with a smile, and I quote, "guess I leaned it out"!

stock rods are plenty strong enough.....all is needed are ARP rod bolts....if anything more than 12 psi is going to be used, you might want to think about lower compression pistons and rings to handle the heat
