Default Anyone running stock rods on boost?

I got a B16 with about 9psi i am right at about 300hp and I am putting in 9:1 CP pistons on my stock rods should it be ok for awhile, I have heard of people running 400hp on stock rods no problem so i figure it should be ok... ?

well heres the thing that you should think about...... would you rather spend like 300 now for some eagle rods or would you rather have to buy another block, pistons, rods ect... when you send a stock rod threw the block?

I think I would just spend the extra 300-400 for rods....

if u keep at 300 and lower you will be fine, most likely for a long while i would de-tune and stick with a more resereved 270whp

the stock b16 rods are very strong do to their very short stance

Thats what I was looking for, ofcourse its my next weakest link, but for now until i can grab some rods i just want to reassure myself im ok with my 300hp and lower...

B16 rods are the thickest of the B's, I would run 400 on them and not worry. They've been taken to 600 before...

Nope, All B18 rods are the same, and way thicker than D rods but the shorter B16 rods are the thickest and therefore strongest.

600 ?!?!?!? ... yeah, right ...

everything over 300WHP on your stock B block will result in a short engine life

600 i dont believe or if possible i bet the rods didnt last long, but all of this is relative, tuning has a large part to due with this. But no matter wat, HP breaks ****

I've heard GSR and Type-R rods are forged....I'm keeping my stock rods with forged pistons, but I'm not boosted.

I'd say use the stock rods, they should be fine. If no one tries it then we will never know, so just keep us informed.

He's right. I run my stock b16 rods at 320 on a daily driver.

The biggest consideration is that the the pins holding the stock pistons to the rods are going to be a b1tch to push out... Unless you have a hydraulic press.

Use the eagles.

Why are you upgrading pistons? Probally for the same reasons u should upgrade your rods....

I ran my stock rods at 344whp for a couple of years, then started having problems with boost creep- up to 28lb hondata boost cut- and finally blew a head gasket. When I tore down the motor everything was clean and looked really good. I'd rather be safe than sorry though.

Everybody who disagreed with me doesn't know what they're talking about. Go look at the highest power on a stock block thread, there is a B16 in the 600 range. They are the thickest B rod, for the last freaking time and B16 pistons definitely let go way before the rods will. I would push them to 400 whp every day and not worry. Come on guys if D series toothpicks hold 300 then a B16 rod which is almost twice as thick can hold a lot more.

90% of engine life is tuning, ive seen 200whp motors take a ****, while 500+ are daily driving... all about the tune.

I'm lazy. If you are swapping the pistons do the rods at the same time.
