Default Timing question

What would happen if i retarded my timing slightly too much on My FI civic??? im running the full AFC hack and get detonation at over 8psi?? im running NGKR7E plugs, 255lph in tank, 450cc's S-AFC set at -33%

I have trouble starting the car sometimes and i have read the blue wire voltage( o2 sensor) at WOT at 8spi (when it detonates) and im getting 0.91 to 0.92 V which surely means its running plenty rich enough????

I wondered if the detonation was due to over retarded timing???

too little timing can cause high combustion chamber heat.. how many degrees are you running at what rpm & boost?

Default Re: Timing question (brian b)

Static timing set at roughly 10 degrees, 9 psi boost wanted.

Would too far retarded timing account for my bad starting and pinking at 9psi??? also im in the UK and pump gas here is 98 octane so surely i shouldnt really be getting pinking with my set up???

Surely is gotta be timing related?
