Default advanced timing MPG question (Just did it)

i advanced the timing yesterday to a little over 17 deg BTDC. I've read that with the timing advanced you're suppose to run a little leaner. However I felt as though i'm running rich because i filled the tank up to full yesterday and today it's at the 1/2 mark. I didn't drive anywhere far...probably drove it for about 2 hrs total at moderate speed with occasional sprints to see its effect on the power band.

Q: How did your MPG do after timing advance?

TIA for the help

That's weird... because 17btdc is ~ factory timing, I've set mine to various points higher than that before ~20+ and didnt have a significant MPG decrease, I'd say only in the neighborhood of a couple of MPG at the most..
And how are you managing fuel mixture?

Are you talking about ignition timing advances or are you talking about cam timing advances. there's a big difference between the too. when I advanced my cam timing to 2 degrees I also readjusted my ignition timing to compensate the cam timing. fuel milege wise I did notice my car was getting better milege since it was leaning out the air/fuel ratio. it also gave me a little bit more noticeable lower end torque since d16s are not known for torque anyways. I wouldn't go more then 2 degrees advanced due to lack of fuel(and detenotion) which can be compensated by upgrading your fuel system.
