Default TiAL WG gasket blown after 1 week @ 7psi! WTF!?!

I finally hit 1000k mile on the newly built bottom end so I went out last night and gave it a few runs and the gasket on my brand new WG blew a hole in itself! Are TiAL WG Gaskets just weak or did I do somthing wrong? I was only boosting 7psi !!

Mine went bad after about 20 miles on 8psi, so i guess it happens.. I removed the wastegate about 3 times without changing it tho if that helps...

My Tial gasket did not take long to blow. I ended up just taking the gasket out and not using one at all. I haven't had any problems since.

They sell the "fire ring" deltagate gaskets at http://www.roadraceengineering.com

Stock up on gaskets/flanges, they give 20% discount for ordering 5 or more of anything in that section.

I haven't ran a wastegate gasket in over 14mos and 35,000 miles. I haven't had 1 problem.

I usually run the wastegate with no gaskets, and have found no leaks or problems in doing so. Since upgrading to the Tial 40mm, they dont use gaskets because of the machine surfaces so I wont be running gaskets again. I will be running the turbonetics fire ring gasket on my GF's turbo d-series. Road race engineering is a great company, its where i buy all my flanges, gaskets and piping.

I bought a turbonetics gasket with the metal ring in the center, I too blew my tial gasket within 2 weeks at 12psi.

I got the turbonetics one ($10) and ran 15 psi and havent blown it since. I cracked a sleeve before the gasket went out.

Thats how strong they are j/k

No gasket on mine and no problems....I blew the one I had before so I did away with it...seems to me without is probably the easiest way, just make sure nothing starts to rust then you may run into some problems

Gotta Live By the 3 B's ->
Boost
Beer
Bitches
haha nice!

running w/ out a gasket is fine on the wastegate, carbon build up will seal it anyways

This ia a part you can safely skim on. You don't really need to use a gasket for the wastegate. Just torque it down.

mine went too but the bolt on the back where the one vac/boost line goes was hitting the valve cover so i ground the bolt down and used the gasket from my old deltagate and never had a problem since
