Default T3 vs. 14B

I tried to search on this particular comparison but couldnt find anything. I'm thinking of a budget build. I have my choice of the two turbos. which is capable of more hp? the T3 is garrett .42/.48ar from a saab 900 I believe and the 14b from the 1st gen eclipse. both need some work but if it can be done cheaper than buying a new or remanufactured one then I'm all for it. any input is appreciated.

45 Trim T3's flow ~23-25lbmin. 14b's flow ~30-33lb/min.

Thanks, does anyone know where I can get a new or remanufactured exhaust housing for the 14B?

14b's are a dime a dozen. Go on some DSM forum and find one for $15. They'll probably throw in the rest of the turbo for free.

looks like replacing the cracked housing might be more trouble and cost than what it is worth considering these cracks are common on these older turbos. I think I'm probably going to focus on finding a 16g instead. They seem to be pretty good for the price. thanks for all your input anyway

14B are good little OEM snails.
Big 16gs flow 37lbs/min. They run about $600 new.

^^^theres a bunch of them being sold used for under 300 plus shipping on ebay. thats probably the better route to go if I can find one that isnt CRACKED and even better if its in good working order! if it needs to be rebuilt that shouldnt be too big of a deal.

I'll keep the 14B in mind if I can find one that is dirt cheap and isnt cracked. The 16g just kinda seems to be a better investment with better hp potential.

Funky exhaust pattern on most evo turbos (newer style), go with an older 16g (evo 3)
