Default T3 Setup on stock H22A

My friends has a few Talons and he has tons of random parts off them.

I was wondering if going with the small T3 setup would yeild me any gains on a basemap. I would just stick with that until I got another turbo setup.

Free injectors, manifold, intercooler, and turbo itsself. I would need the charge piping and either make myself a manufold or buy one.

Would it be worth the extra $300 for now just for the extra boost? I would be running stock pistons, so I probabally couldn't boost over 7 pounds or so.

Input?

I run a small t3 on my d16a6, I get full boost before 3k, A strait t3 would be way too small for anything other than a D

Yeah, But, would I be able to use it in the meantime until I go to a larger turbo?

I know one of my friends has a K24 (type-s head) running a straight T3, and it works for him.

Not sure exactly what trim it it or anything like thet, but it doesn't spool up too early.

you could do it and it would yield decent gains. its definately worth $300 to do. its like spending $300 on a *****. youll at least have a story to tell in the end.

ps: many parallels can be drawn between cheap ****** and DSM parts.

I thought the DSM Turbo manifolds were only interchangable with the F series engines. (or the Euro Prelude motor)
But with a junk yard turbo off a SVO w/ a h23 block h22 head and type -S cams we put down 310whp @ 7psi
Also using DSM side mount & 440's

Depending on the t3, thats 220-250 for a smaller one, 300-325 on the 60 trim, .63ar stg3 exhaust. A bit small, yes.

With a small turbo, its still just as capible as a smaller motor with the same snail, just that the powerband is shifted majorly to the bottom-end. You'll see some boost not far past idle

As long as its a T3-flanged manifold that you'll use, go for it. You can always upgrade to a larger snail & retune easily. Low boost is better than no boost.

I have the euro-R motor.

So even the turbo manifold will fit on my car?

All that leaves me with to get is an exhaust setup and oil lines.

Nice.

Im not doing it for the most power, I mean, I want more, but nothing crazy right now. Just for a little more fun since I have no a/c or power steering anyway. And Im getting the parts for free.

It depends, IIRC its the F22Ax and the H23's that use the dsm-like bolt pattern.

Pop your hood and look at the exhaust manifold. If it looks like this, it may fit a dsm (this is a dsm modded for a F22a1):

I can't recall if the h22 flange is much different, nor am I sure if the euro-h head is different.

it looks very much like that.

I just got another exhaust gasket for a USDM H22, and it doesn't fit my head.

The DSM manifold only fits the h23's with minor modification. H22's are different.

The t3 is way to small of a turbo to run on a h22a in my opinion.

Heres what my exhaust manifold looks like. I am not sure if this is just a normal H22A or what, but I know that a prelude intermediate shaft will not fit it, and I also know that a normal H22A4 exhaust manifold gasket will not fit it. Its stamped H22A, and came paired to a M2B4 (JDM Prelude LSD).

Mixed up parts, or what?

Well anyway, heres what the exhaust manifold looks like (give or take. dang this motor has came a long way since then):
