stock map sensor and boost.
so with a stock map sensor my understanding is if you boost over 12 psi it will burn out. well my car spiked 17 the other day and now is missing on top end. does this have to do with the fact that its not reading now and not pulling enoug timing under boost ? normal driving is fine

Eh, I'll bite
Stock map sensor won't read pressure over 11psi. Yes you can kill the sensing components if you expose them to too much pressure. However if you can't appropriately tune for higher pressure then that spike more than likely damaged more than a map sensor

OP - You most likely blew your engine from being untuned in the region you boosted to. Time to give the engine a full once over. I personally haven't ever fried a stock MAP sensor from boosting over its limit. Ahhh, the FMU days... LOL!
