Yep your **** out of luck, Dallas and Houston are both like MD... They require it every 2 years, but if they are anything like MD if your car is to low to fit on the rollers(obd0) then they just give you a waiver for 2 years... MD does not have visual inspection, just emissions, but the inspection is only done when registering the vehicle...

But my buddy did tell me that if you want to live near Dallas or Houston live out side the surrounding counties and they do not have emissions... So just the major cities/counties in Texas have emissions....

Perhaps I'm able to register it at the smaller cities? Would that be possible?

You will have to register the car in the city/county in which your new residence will be...

My girlfriend's parents live in the McCall/Mission area in Texas and I don't recall that place having any emissions. So would it be idea to just register the car there instead?

One reason some states have emissions is because they are big into farming, or like CA don't have the jet stream overhead (mountains divert it) to carry **** away. WI for example has 2 giant lakes on 2 sides, the US's largest river on another, is mostly agricultural, and most of our population is in certain areas.

Other states like NY I would presume have too many cars to enforce or pay for testing. From the way some people talk about it, CA has an emissions place on every corner. In WI, all emission/inspection places are 100% state-owned.

IMO choosing a place to live based on emissions requirements is not soemthing I'd look into. Many states have been revamping requirements, and sometimes you aren't grandfathered in. If any other county ever required something for your car make/model/year, chances are you can't be grandfathered. One more reason I love my 67 Firebird, ZERO state can require it to be emission tested, ever. I also don't have to legally wear seatbelts

we have no emissions testing or anything at all here in Arkansas! It is really nice too. Lots of awesome roads everywhere! there are a bunch of people here that run open exhaust, open header, and such... I have 3in turboback, no muffler, no resonator, and i get no problems at all.

Westchester County NY requires emissions - Putnam (just north of Westchester) only requires an ECU scan.

hey alfa turbo you are the one who needs to stop and research before you talk. the research process, only to find out if there is any oil takes over 10 years, you dont just drill a whole and start filling tanks of oil it takes a lot of studies. and even if we found the oil right away it would take time before we start noticing the results.
