no sniffer test here in ny just an ECU scan.

we tuned a car on 1000cc injectors that passed the sniffer test in CT though.

Are you sure about Virgina? I could have sworn they are worst than MD?

I'm pretty sure West Virgina doesn't, but PA does... Anyone know about Delaware?

Positive on Virginia. They have rediculous state inspection, but it doesn't involve plugging in or any 5 gas, it's just a visual.

Certain counties in Wisconsin don't have emission testing. I live in one county, but simply have to say the car is parked in Brown or Jefferson county, and I don't have to do squat. No questions asked either, its great!

There are probably a few more northern counties, since most up north have like .1 person per square mile...

Can anyone tell me if Texas has emission testing? I'm thinking about moving there next year or so.

west virginia also requires no sort of emissions inspection. they have a yearly inspection type deal of the whole car. but nothing emissions related. i personally have seen a WV state inspection and it involves nothing other than a check of the general lights, turn signals, tire tread, and brake pads. they didnt look at any sort of exhaust or check for a cat. i just moved here and used to live in maryland. but like the OP stated, i also got the 2 year waiver deal because my car was too low to fit onto the rollers. i have heard that maryland is soon going to install in floor rollers so that all cars can fit. but they have been saying that around here for a few years. who knows if they will actually get around to doing it.

as stated above, New york has no emissions testing. 96+ vehicles are required to be scanned through the obd2 port. but 95 an older only require a visual emissions inspection (is the cat there? pass!).

I passed last time I had to do an emissions test, but fortunately not an issue now. obd1 cars are not also exempt from testing... which is another bonus to having a 1995.

oh edit: sorry this is in missouri btw.

Thinking about moving to Houston. Sick and tired of this Cali BS law. I'm going to be smogging my car sometime in September, hopefully for the last time.

Here's what I have so far...

State's Without: MI, KS, IA, NE, HI, NY, WV, TN, OH, ID, IN, ND, SD, WA, MO, ME

State's W/ Certain Counties: MN, TX, NC, OR, FL, WI, SC

State's Requiring: MD, VA, CA, CT, MA

Please correct me if I have any of these in the wrong, or if I forgot one already mentioned!

Anthony

Washington requires smog depending on your zip code. OBD-1 and before requires passing a sniffer test at idle and 25mph. Obd-2 they only plug into the port and make sure there is no codes.

I've seen cars smoking so bad in bama that it fogs up the whole damn road. Cops don't even pull them over.

I wasn't aware of any counties in Florida that required smog testing.

If I remember I will ask a buddy of mine as he grew up in Dallas, but street raced muscle cars a lot in Houston... But if I had to take a guess I would say yes they require it, but I'll double check for you!

Updated version, is this correct? Can anyone else verify the remaining states? I'm assuming Alaska is not requiring their 60,000 residents as they are so remote...

State's Without: MI, KS, IA, NE, HI, NY, WV, TN, OH, ID, IN, ND, SD, MO, ME, Al, MS, AR

State's W/ Certain Counties: MN, TX, NC, OR, FL, WI, SC, WA, CO

State's Requiring: MD, VA, CA, CT, MA

Later,

Anthony

Yep your **** out of luck, Dallas and Houston are both like MD... They require it every 2 years, but if they are anything like MD if your car is to low to fit on the rollers(obd0) then they just give you a waiver for 2 years... MD does not have visual inspection, just emissions, but the inspection is only done when registering the vehicle...

But my buddy did tell me that if you want to live near Dallas or Houston live out side the surrounding counties and they do not have emissions... So just the major cities/counties in Texas have emissions....
