to add to your comment about why they have to boost high to make good numbers is also because of the compression there running.

b-series engines are high strung 10:1 and above n/a engines (even the d16y8 is 9.6:1) compared to the srt-4's 8.8:1 (I could be wrong but i know it is in the eights)
so adding moderate boost like 8-10 psi of boost to an already high compression engine is going to net really good numbers right off the bat.

ps. I test drove a 03 srt-4 and boy could that sucker MOVE.

how the hell do you guys get test drives? i can't get near one without salesmen haggling me, and they won't even let me look inside or anything because i don't 'qualify' to buy the car. i try and B.S. em', but it doesn't work somehow and i used to be a dodge salesman!

Yeah... I'm actually debating dropping a 2.2 block w/ a garrett in my 1st gen neon (Winter beater).... I have alot of TD resources within 10 miles of me... including G Donovan...

BTW... you might know my buddy... He has CSX-T #665 and a 5 speed turbo caravan...

dude, i'd be over at donovans all the time!

wouldn't putting a 2.2 in a neon be kinda hard with the motor-mount situation?

and who's the guy with csx-t #665? i know a couple guys with GLHS' like mine, and a shelby lancer (and various other turbo chryslers) but no csx-t.

He's on turbododge.com... his name on there is CSXT665... His name is jon.

And as far as the 2.2 in the neon, i've heard its been done... a complete swap, not just a block swap though...

Its more of a pipedream than anything, but maybe one day...

why not just turbo the neon engine? ditch the 1st gen head for a newer 2.4 head, get some mdm turbo manifolds (mexican domestic market ) and boost the sucker. it'd probably save you lots of hassle.

wow, we jacked this thread good.

unless I am confused the reason they boost soo high to make that power is becuase they have lower compression, making them gain less power per psi but able to handle alot more than a higher compression engine. hence my b16 in my si at 10.2 running about 10 psi might make 250hp but if I drop the compression to like 9 I would need to be at 15-20psi to make the same power but it would be less stressful on the components and less likely to break.

that pretty much sums it up.

the SRT-4's have 8.8:1 cr i think, which is decent. i don't think you'll find a turbocharged car from the factory with any more than 9.0:1.

but for the old dodges that need to boost real high to go fast, it's not just the 8.0:1 cr, but also the shabby 8-valve sohc head. stock head = garbage

The "577cc/min @ 58psi" are the equivalent to the RC 500cc/min injectors, Dodge must be using what the actual fuel pressure is vs the standardized 43.5psi testing method.

Here is a link to a video of our car this weekend https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=641100
We ran the car in Sport FWD. We are going to be building this car up over the winter to compete in this class next year. So far we need to get it into the low 10s to accomplish anything. Luckly we have displacement on our side

lol i told the guy i was very interested and my car was paid off. Once he heard that his eyes lit up. He even let me take it on the highway (turnpike). I floored it in first getting on the on ramp and those 17's turned to smoke instantly, all the way through 3rd gear.

the only things i didn't like were the long *** shifter and the how the gas pedal is hinged. Other than that if i really had the dough the salesman would have gotten a nice check.

ps. about test driving an EVO......that wasn't happening.
