split my electrodes' WTF
i took out my ngk copper plugs..(500miles on them at 5psi of boost) heat range 7
and i noticed that all 4 of the plugs have the center electrode splite about half way down the middle...
WTF...is up with this ****...
they are gapped at .030 ..is the gap too tight???
BTW, car is a 98 prelude..

Re: split my electrodes' WTF (graphic)
Post a picture of the plugs... Make sure it shows the tip itself in at least one picture and the plug part number on one of them. I'm 95% sure you cant "split" the electrode...
On a side note, I had a slight problem with the car studdering from 7500rpm to 9000rpm and it was making a little less power than normal. Though the plugs only have roughly 3k miles on them, I decided to swap another set in to see if that was the problem. Uh yea... I think this picture should clear up what my problem was. (This was just today even.) Strangely, it ran fine under part throttle despite the problem. It also pulled hard as ever to about 7000rpm and then started to cut out. Needless to say, its back in prime power again. (Glad I buy plugs 40 at a time!)
"Hmm, somethings missing!" Plugs in order #4 -> #1 facing the same direction... Note #4 electrode...

Re: split my electrodes' WTF (I Need Money.)
I poked a probe in to look, the pistons look fine on the tops anyway. I'm guessing it happened under boost and was likely shot out the exhaust valve and through the exhaust itself. The car runs perfect now that I dropped new plugs in.

No, none at all... We have it tuned rich, around 11.9:1 on a wideband. I think I may have damaged it myself before installing the plug. Its impossable to tell from the picture, but it looks more like it broke off. I checked and other than average carbon buildup, the piston tops are flawless and it doesnt have any other signs of detonation.
