Default SOMEONE PLEASE help me with my d16!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok,,,here's my problem. First off, i'm not the smartest person when it comes to the inside of my 98 civic EX. But, i do have a pretty good grasp on things, and have got the money to do it. SO, my question is THIS:
What would be ANYONE'S recommendation to nicely hop-up my SOHC d16. I've by all my friends to go with a turbo, or a whole engine swap to an SI motor. But i don't wanna spend $3000 or MORE.

So, SOMEONE with some experience with the d16's tell me if this package i'm fixing to go with is actually gonna make a difference, AND how much it might make. Or, am i just simply wasting my time on my Lil' ol SOHC motor?

I was going with :
The complete Wet Zex Nitrous kit
The Jet performance chip that you have to send your CPU to them to do
And a set of AEM Pulleys.

So, i can get all of this around $1300...and how much of a difference will all this make on my 98 EX??

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED! THANKS!

id say save up for a turbo kit for 3000 or less u can put down a nice amount of hp, and taking out a midly moded dohc isnt to much of a problem plus ull be quicker all the time or when your in boost anyway just imo

that would not be a good way to spend 1300. the chip and the pulleys are a joke as far as Hp/$ are concerned and the nitrous will just run out then your car will be slow again. why not add O2 the fun way.......TURBO

I say, do a complete tune-up including t-belt and waterpump, a nice clutch and a modest turbo kit. you can do it for under 3000 and have very reliable and fast honda. If you do your own work you could even get some pretty nice turbo parts or better engine managment with that budget.

True with a 50 shot you probably would be lucky to hit mid to low 15s on a stock y8. I turbod my heavy del sol y8 and hit 14.5 at like 5-6 psi on a small little 15G. Can't beat the sound/pull of a turbo. I'm selling my 15G and Greddy manifold and downpipe if you want it. Looking to get 600 shipped. Has about 3000 miles on them. Downpipe is crushed but its usable for awhile.

15G? Is that pretty much all i'll need to fit onto mine? (Including the busted manifold) So what's with the 15G,,,and i may sound like a DA, but who makes it? And actually, is there a reason you're trying to get rid of it?

The 15G is a good turbo. It just doesn't have that great of topend. I recently purchase a t3 super 60 which I think will suite me best for what I want to do. The manifold isn't busted, the downpipe is. The manifold is in good condition along with the turbo. They were only on the car for about 3000-5000 miles. I haven't really kept track. The 15G is an upgraded Mitsubishi 14b turbo. It's made to Greddy's specs.

not trying to shade you out eh6 but that seems like a lot of $ for a greddy manifold and halfassed downpipe. i got a revhard manifold and a revhard 2.25 dp for 400 brand new... something to think about

IMO, buy a greddy turbo kit and a 100$ walmart welder. find a 1g eclipse blowoff valve and rig a flange onto the charge piping, also go to junkyards and find a supra sidemount intercooler, or any other decent intercooler you can find at the junk yard. then use your expensive a$$ welder to rig the intercooler on using some bends from JCwhitney. once that is complete save up for hondata s100, a MBC, and tuning. that should net you in the area of 200whp for around 2500$. money well spent if you can get a way with it

So would everyone say that this is a pretty good deal for $600 shipped? And, would this be pretty much all i'd need for a descent install job that was pretty fast?

Also, everyone says you can get a new one for around $1200,,,,but does anyone have a website link for those prices?

Thanks to everyone that's been helping. It's helped a BUNCH!

It's more around 1400 shipped. I got mine from http://www.aieonline.com. I'm not sure if they have free shipping anymore but I do believe its still 1477.
