Default sohc boost question

I'm about to turbo my sohc, i've been wanting to know what a safe level of boost is on stock internals, i was hoping for maybe running about 9 psi but i can settle for as low as 5psi. I know sohc turbos have been widely discussed and i've done a lot of research but i just want to be sure. Right now my engine has about 132xxx miles on it and hasn't lost too much compression yet.. well thanks in advance for any help

I think it mainly depends on the HP you're making, not just the psi levels. This is prolly also a better question for the forced induction forum, though I'm sure you'll find answers here. I've seen many a 7-10 psi with no issues in my day.

170WHP for a D15 and 200WHP for a D16 are fairly safe levels of power to be pushing through these things reliably.

good to know, my main concern was with loss of compression and possibly blowing the head gasket or having head lift, if this isnt really an issue at low boost then i'm prolly gonna go ahead with it

ps, runnin a d16 btw

I'd get ARP head studs and a new head gasket regardless.

Get some ARP Headstuds and a good tune and your good to go.It also doesn't matter really what PSI your running as it's HP thats gonna determine what your motor can take.15psi on a T25 is much different than 15psi on a gt35r
