Default LS Vtec Vortech?

I have a 00 si with the vortech after cooled system on it. Then i messed up my bottom end and found a good deal on a built LS motor. i want to take the bottom end off the LS and but my head on it. Does anyone know of someone doing this? How much boost will i be able to run?
Thanks Tony

LSVtec nope never heard of it......

You will probably get ding'ed with lots of search suggestions. At least that is what I was gonna say, but how can I be rude to another IL H-T'er?
Yes it can be done. But your success is dependent on how well you perform the swap.
Depending on how built the LS bottom end is........
At least, you will need to swap the LS rod bolts out for APR rod bolts. The oem LS rod bolts are the weak link in the rotating assembly. I also suggest installing a Vtec water pump (B16A, B18C1, B18C5) and timing belt (B18C1, B18C5) to retain the cooling range when running the LS bottom end at higher than designed rpms.
You will also need to either buy LSVtec dowels or have your cyl head modified to move the dowels. I strongly suggest the Full Race dowels...it is just too easy.
You will also need to supply oil to the Vtec cylinder head seeming that there are no internal oil passages in the LS block. I suggest the GEM filter adapter. Not to mention you will have to tap and plug the original cyl head oil port with a steel allen plug.

There is alot of other details but at least this will get you on the right track....try the search button too. There are aolt of good informative posts about LSVT engines. Good luck

SRP pistons
Eagle Rods
ACL bearings
ARP head studs
LS crank

Do you think the end product will be worth it? will i lose boost

I feel that the displacement increase from your B16A bottom end will make the change well worth it. Especially since it sounds like you are swaping a stock B16A shortblock for a built shortblock. Besides I'm a LSVT junkie

You will have to retune to compinsate for the increase in displacement...rather large change in engine configuration.
You won't be able to IM (trial user) but I can shoot you an email and help with any questions.
