What bore size are you planning on running? What turbo kit? Cams? Exhaust? Here's a B series set-up that I tuned last month running the t3 sc6152e.

You may want to look into upgrading to the new billet turbo's that PTE offers. They are a verrrrry nice!

I am running the sc61 with t3 .63 hot side/.60 cold side, ramhorn, stock sleeves, forged internals, type r cams, 3" dp to e-cutout. Made 456whp @ 19psi on 93 octane fuel. The turbo really came alive after 15psi. I dont think 5-600whp will be a problem with that turbo. I would recommend the larger t3 or even t4 exhaust cover with a vband. Good luck!

456whp is more than needed for a street car for 19psi. The P-trim exhaust wheel is preferred.

i'm also interested in the same turbo. I'd personally like a little better spool than the graph posted above, but also looking for the 500-600 cababilitys in the 800$ and under price range.

SETUP:
84x89 Sleeved 9.0:1 Compression
CNC Ported Head 2mm larger valves
Edelbrock Intake mani & TopMount Turbo manifold

I'm not interested in paying big bux for BB (will exceed the budget)

that is not going to happen regardless of wheel combination for the power intended. face it, you're a small displacement engine with a very large turbocharger. On any B-series less than 2 litres, it will more than likely be about 4600-5500 rpms for maximum pressure.

I just figured that there might be something a tad smaller that will still hit those power goals, with the slightly smaller size helping spool a little bit quicker.

Just want something that is gonna push the car to a 10sec. pass on the track, yet not be a complete waste on the street. (still in the 800 or less price range)

i pretty much went through the same situation as you...i say get the sc61! its the best bang for the buck turbo..i think..

i have a sc61(.63ar) 84.5 bore gsr...i made 604whp @ 31psi! the tune was really conservative too..fastest time i got was 11.2 at 540whp 27psi..still learning..haha..but im trying to get into the 10s also and didnt get a chance to run the 1320 with the new tune..

as far as the street...because of the bigger displacement (2.0), this turbo is crazy...on the street i just run it off the wastegate spring (14psi) and i hit full boost at around 4500rpm...to me thats pretty fast... i say go with this turbo, its proven and the price is a steal..

the only thing i wish i got was a gt35r but that was way over my budget...then i ran in to the sc61 which is pretty much a non ball bearing gt35r...

now i want more!! haha..hopefully i can get a bigger exhaust housing as will..may be a .82ar

just my .02 cents...good luck bro...lmk if you need any more advise

You can't get everything in the world in one turbocharger. Even the VNTs have their limitations for use. 10 second passes (I assume 10.5+) are quite possible with this turbocharger, and if especially the budget is under 900 dollars, this is one of the only possibilities you can use on pump/race gas.

If you are going to go with a SC61 go with this one.

SC-6176E and opt for the S-comp housing and the .82a/r exh.housing.

that would be fine with me.

I am running that turbo myself but I am using the stage V wheel in the .82a/r housing.

Its a great turbo for the money.

I use to run a sc6152sp with a .63 a/r hotside t3 4 bolt housing. was a great turbo, spooled up nicely on bigger sohc f22... hotside was a little restrictive on the big end but thats something I have since addressed in going to a new precision turbo.

Great turbo for the money... if I was to buy another one sc61 I would buy the sc6176sp with an .82 housing.

Could you elaborate a little on why you'd go that direction?

Thanks!

I would have gone that direction and was going to as I wanted to drop the backpressure in my setup with a larger hotside. Then after checking some pricing on one of the billet precision units someone suggested to me, I just went that route. So I am taking a chance with something a little different (at least not well tested yet in the honda community). Come spring and a retune, we shall see if it along with some other changes is a positive step. I am hoping the improved efficiency will outweigh the drawbacks of additional lag... which lag has never been quite a big issue for me anyways unless its extreme.

Thanks, that helps.

So I think the SC6152xx is supposed to have what is referred to as a "Stage 5" turbine wheel in it, which I guess corresponds to the "52" in the model name of the turbo.

Assuming that's true, is there a common name for the larger "76" turbine wheel in the SC6176xx?

And one more thing, when you mentioned increased lag, is that because of the increased inertia of a heavier billet wheel, or something else?

Thanks for educating me!

Thanks!

So then here's the dumb follow up question: Does this mean that all SC6176 turbos are T4s, or do they find some way to cram that wheel into a T3 turbine housing?

The ptrim wheel can be stuffed into a t3 housing as far as I know, someone correct me if I am wrong but I do believe Precision offers them.

It's done on a precision turbine housing, but for a garrett housing, it has to be bored to fit the P-trim.
