Default My Garrett is done... what turbo should I buy now?

I currently have a Garrett t3/t04e 60 trim with a .63 a/r and I love the power its been making for me, but due to a level return line and probably one too many hot shut offs, the seals are done and the turbo is burning oil like no other.

Its been over a year since i did any research on turbos so Im assuming theres some new opinions out there. I was going to just replace the turbo with another one just like it but I want to know what others think of the turbos that are on the market currently. I good friend is suggesting the Holset HY series turbo, but i really dont know much about them. The new GT series turbos are out of my price range and Im not sure if I want to invest in a precision sc series unit...

what are the hot turbos out right now that are under 600 bucks??

I don't know what new cartridge/seals would cost but Dayton Diesel charges about $100 labor to rebuild.

If you go with the t3/67 you will make some serious power. Look for some dyno graphs of t3/67 turbo's on GSR motors

The HX35 might a good replacement for your 60trim if you want some serious power. The efficiency island is Huge and the price is low for a new one

I'm going to run an HX30 on my built D16z6 if all goes as planed..and it will if my car knows whats good for it...

Be careful of cheapturbo.com I sent my turbo there for a rebuild and when I got it back the car would smoke, Ken from cheapturbo assured me that it was not the turbo but after spending about $400 I took it to a local place and they told me that the turbo was in bad shape this is after 200miles,The local company charged me $375 because thay did some extra work, however Ken from cheapturbo did pay the local company $300. The car never smoked again

Dayton Diesel has rebuilt several for trucks in our shop and we've never had any problems.

Aaron, http://www.holset.com you have to 8dig* for the compressor maps. Holset are bastards like that. You also better plan on getting rods+pistons. Holset turbos are designed for high PRs (lots of boost) and really you would be exceeding the power handling capacity of a stock motor with one pretty easily.

slightly out of my price range... looks like a rebuild is most likely going to occur. I love my current turbo and really dont see the money coming in soon for a brand new one...
