Default sc50 + h23vtec = insane spool?

Hate to do another "how will my car spool" thread but i'm thinking about buying my sc50 back from my friend, its got the .63 ar I'd like to push around 380-400 whp. Just wonder aprx. what rpm it'll hit full boost at. compression is 9.5-1

yes, I would say that your set-up will spool quickly.

you'd be maxing that thing out at 400whp. Turbo is pretty small for a h23/vtec. I would ASSume it'll spool rather quickly 3k-3500

DSM guys have pushed this turbo to 500 WHP maxing it out, 400 WHP definitely isn't going to max it out. You don't need a ~630 WHP capable SC61 to make 400 WHP.

i agree, but with really fast spool i'm worried about just tearing the tires apart. i'll likely only be running 225 bfg's.

I find it easier to control the throttle and hold traction with a quicker spooling turbo that hits a little bit softer and more predictably rather than a large turbo that ramps in a couple hundred ft-lbs of torque over a very short span of RPM's. Tony the Tiger and a few others have commented on it being easier to control traction with a quicker spooling turbo too, I don't know how it got started that big turbo = better traction. My old PT67 setup at 400 WHP on pump gas was much harder to hold traction than my GT30R at 400 WHP.
