Default safe to boost 104k mi. d16y8?

I finally got myself a honda. A 97 ex coupe, and i knew the previous owner (my neighor) absolutely babied the car: changed oil every 2k miles, all scheduled maintenance and all that. I'm planning to go turbo, and I'm considering either the greddy or edelbrock kit, along with bolt-ons and such, AND NO INTERNAL MODS. Now, considering those mods and the wear on the engine. will it be safe to boost the car to the level it will need to be in order to run 14 even?

no problem. It would be a good idea to, at least, do a compression test though.

Look at it this way...what other option do you have? Change out the engine for one more deserving of a turbo? No...just slap a kit on that mother and it'll be fine.

I've had my 97 EX boosted since 108k, and now I'm at 116k in zero degree weather and it's been running fine.

mileage means nothing . . . . you need to go by how well you took care of the motor. Your best bet will be to compression test it if you are worried and go from there.

I just finished boosting my 145k motor, and it compression tested fine . . . I will be reboosting it shortly with a bigger setup.

My Y8 was boosted from 88k through 112k, now she has 125k and still has 190-psi+ compression in all 4. It's all in the maitenence
