My car sounds like a mix between a SRT4 and a semi with open downpipe. Does yours? </TD></TR></TABLE>

I would say more like a dump truck. You hear all this noise and then you hear a turbo spooling

lol. I always thought thats what a stereo is for, to drown out ambient noise (including the sound of the engine). My CRX was loud as hell, but definetly not louder than my stereo. I wouldnt have it any other way.

the sound of my engine <U>is</U> music. and I personaly like to use my engine to drown out the ambient sounds of the guy blasting his stereo from two blocks away.

I have ran open downpipe for probably 5 out of the 10 months I have had my car boosted. I usually take it off when I go to the dragstrip or street racing and then I am just lazy putting it back on. I love the way it sounds, but it does get annoying if you have to commute on the freeway a lot. I actually just took it off again tonight and went driving around, my ears are ringing a little, but it defintely sounds sweet.

Here is a video of me at the track with open downpipe (I am the horizon grey civic coupe)...

ill be running open downpipe on my car unless its unbearable. I got cody to make me a 4" side exit DP and a side exit WG dump, both on passengers side of course but if it does get unbearable(this is a street driven car, but not my daily driver by any means) and i decide i want it to be more quiet, ima just get a 3" dp made and a crush bent 3" exhaust

edit...i used to run open header on a toda B/AN-R header jdm gsr motor for over 4 months without getting pulled or getting annoyed. No radio either, so i should be ok as far as police/getting annoyed

At first, open downpipe was very annoying, but im getting use to it. I still opt for an exhaust though.

Wow, if you were able to live with open header for 4 months straight, i think you will be ok with running open downpipe

what radio?

and i always thought that the turbo muffled the exhaust a bit. Dont see how it could be much louder than open header at 9k+ and id be willing to bet its more quiet when cruising

I took the other route, and upgraded to a sick stereo instead. .
I can't even hear the motor, even at WOT when I pump the stereo

I thought it wouldn't be that bad but open downpipe is ******* loud. Can't wait to get my 3" exhaust welded up. Straight through magnaflow oval muffler should take care of things.

if i do get a new exhaust setup, i am going with elemental designs amps, sound splinter 10" and alpine type spx-177r comps to drown it out. SQ ownz
