Default Run without O2 sensor?

I was wondering if its possible to run the car without an o2 sensor?
Besides the CEL comeing on...are there any disadvantages?
The reason why im asking is because i want to monitor my AFR, and was planning on throwing a Wideband in my downpipe....just wondering if its neccesary to weld in a seperate bung

Thanks
-Brian

U can turn off the O2 in ur ems so it wont throw a code.

Or u can use most widebands as a narrowband to also not throw a code.

well its actually a WRX, and the EM im using i can turn off the CEL, i was just wondering if it will affect the performance of the car.......cause the car does have two O2 sensors, one in the header, before the turbo, and one after the turbo in the downpipe(where i would like to put the wideband)

and from what i understand, u can run one o2 sensor in an OBD2 car as long as you leave one o2 sensor in that senses the fuel

Are we talking removing both sensors or just one?

You really want that 1st one in there unless you like getting 10mpg.

why not just weld in a new bung for your wideband? They are very cheap and then you don't have to worry about a CEL.

a tuner told me that he could disable my stock o2 and that it would just read off of the map he tuned for me. Would that be safe?

O i know
but the subaru boards were blocked at work, so i figured id try my luck on here first

and i meant leave one 02 sensor in the manifold, and put the WB in the DP,
and i learned before that the 02 in the manifold controls the fuel(which i will be keeping) and the one in the DP detects the cats effenc, so since im catless, its not problem
