Recirculating external wastegate?

Recirculating external wastegate?
Hi friends, I am building a ls / vtec turbo, and research on the internet, I found a recirculation process, do not really understand the process, but I think it is to send the air expelled by the wastagate to the downpipe.
In some cases I thought that put a wastegate on the dowpipe, no air recirculation ment of the turbo.
If I'm wrong, please correct me. I would like to know more about the subject, and if this really brings some benefit to a project turbo (hp). Thanks for any comments

Re: Recirculating external wastegate?
a recirculating external wastegate setup is when the wasted exhaust gas that gets let out threw the "Wastegate" goes back into your exhaust system instead of going into the atmosphere...some guys also use External Wastegate o2 housings...there is some hp to be gained by going with a "Dump-to-atmosphere" setup and it sounds cool
