What is this crap?
Re: confused about wastegate?? (nolovenodie)
external is typically better at controlling a wide range of boost/flow levels, and can have a more effecient design.
internal wastegate can be seen attached to the turbo, the internal wastegate can impede exhaust flow out of the turbo and therefore can be slightly less effecient.
all cars that are turbo from the factory that i know of, have internal wastegate.
most people that turbo hondas here run external wastegate, since their looking to maximize power gains.
external wastegates require more complex exhaust routing and can be more difficult to pass emissions laws, since you have 2 exhaust routes to worry about. plus returning wastegate gases to the exhaust is more difficult and since the wastegate is only open during boost, the external wastegate piping experiences dramatic thermal cycling that causes more design challenges and more likely to fail over time.
internal wastegate was a determining factor in me choosing the Greddy kit.
a lot of people on here dont care what they or their car smells like (or didnt think they cared) so they have NO piping off the external wastegate, which is not legal in a lot of places.

thnx for your reply.
the reason i ask is because i want to get a turbo from a junkyard from some car that has builtin turbo..but i dont know how internal wastegate look like....i plan to get a T3 turbo.....what if it has an internal wastegate, can i use an external one with that?? or do i have to stay with internal one?
