Default recently installed turbo kit, wont boost past 6psi

hey, i just recently installed my turbo kit over the weekend, but i cant seem to boost past 6 psi. my tial wastegate spring is .7 bar which is approximately 9-10psi or so right? during idle my boost guage reads vacuum at around 16-17. its supposed to be around the 20's correct? i am led to believe i have a boost leak, vacuum leak, or both. i have my wastegate to turbo vacuum line, and my bov and boost guage are t'd to the fpr line. my friend says i might have the wrong spring, but i bought the wg directly from camp1320 and it even says .7 bar on the box. anyways, i have a basemap for t3/t4 turbo and 440cc injectors at 6-7psi i believe.

any help will be appreciated. thanks in advance.

Well if your wastegate source is close to the turbo its most likly at .7 bar right next to the turbo but after the pressure drop of running through the pipes intercooler and throttle body you are only getting that much boost. Hook it up closer to the manifod for your source and you should be set.

does it stay hold steady at that psi or does to start to break up--if it starts to break up- check the gap on the plugs

Sounds pretty normal to me... My setup is the same way, but I expected it to do that when I put it together...

I am running a .5bar spring with the wastegate line is hooked up to the compressor housing... and my boost gauge is reading from the FPR...

The easiest way for you to fix this would be to run your wastegate line off your brake booster or anywhere else on the IM... that would be free at least...

I am going to get a vacuum manifold eventually, that way my boost gauge, BOV, and wastegate are all seeing the same amount of boost... either that, or I am going to take my IM off and tap some ports into it like the Edelbrock... but that's more of a pain than installing a vacuum manifold...

ok well i figured out the vacuum problem. my boost gauge is off by 3 or so. i tried my friends boost gauge and it was reading 19-20.. so thats good. i checked my ic piping for any leaks, but everything was fine. i still cant boost past 6 psi! we even disconnected the vacuum line for the wastegate in hope that it would boost more but to our surprise, with no wastegate, the boost still held at 6 psi. what could be the problem now? i was told either the turbo is shot, but it shouldnt be since i bought it new or that i have a major exhaust leak, which i shouldnt although i am missing the leftmost exhaust manifold stud. im gonna try to fix that stud and see if that works. any other help would be appreciated! im out of ideas and im trying to get ready for cmi!

o yea .. on the turbo to mani., looks like u put a dinky bolt. might wanna change that out to a big bolt. search around the mani for exahustr leaks. be careful not to get burned.
