real nitrous questions
alirght i searched i saw some real nice nitrous setups ive used a shitty *** zex dry kit spraying a 75 shot on a b16 it was fun went turbo and blew the motor now i have another b16 and i want to build it in to a high compresion nitrous street motor with a direct port setup anyone have any tips on what compression to run which pistons, rods and valves, fuel pumps, fprs, fuelrails, and such also post up any nice setups or any times or dynos
thanks

run typical 11.0:1 or somewhere in that neighborhood so its decent on all motor. Then go direct port, have a nitrous dedicated fuel system, wideband, s100 with the nitrous control is teh shiz, spray 150-200, and enjoy trying to grab traction when your hit with 150 trq in a split second. then you can buy a nitrous progressive rate controller.
The higher compression you go, the harder it is to tune on nitrous. timing/ignition becomes a very important roll. Theres a few guys on the board that maybe still do and have ran 125 direct port on stock b18c's for years. so 200 on a built engine is nothing. setup and tuning is key. If you wanna do it right, prepare to spend as much as a decently setup turbo kit would cost...

most dry kits do suck for a high hp setup
what do you consider a "big shot" anyway?

Re: real nitrous questions (ilsimsli)
It's gonna cost about the same as a turbo kit, I wouldn't do much to the motor at all, 11:1 pistons, eagle rods, complete ITR valvetrain at best. Just get a decent pump Walbro seems to be popular, good engine mgt, and tune your *** off. Dual stage, direct port is your freind if you don't wanna do the whole progressive controler thing I believe Neptune supports that. I agree Zex does suck, NX >>> *

ZEX Man ran a 200 shot dry on his race car. That's alot more than most people here have ran with a direct port wet setup.

I ran 100shot dry on the last setup. Seems like when you get around 100+ dry it tends to lean at onset and then fatten back out. I think wet might help keep the a/f stoich.

That's just the Hondata nitrous controls not being able to tune entire fuel maps for nitrous. I experienced the same thing at 100 shot with Hondata.

If ya wanna do a REAL nitrous setup, do as i said before.
-direct port system
-heater, gauge, & ETC
-nitrous dedicated fuel system
-full MSD ignition
-s100 to tune the engine to a T and adjust timing while on spray...
Go big or go home.

Re: real nitrous questions (ilsimsli)
What he means is a sperate fuel cell just for your nitrous i think that is only needed for a bigggg shot but is a good because it doesnt draw any fuel from your regular fuel line......i just finished my setup basic little setup..
ITR shortblock
stock gsr head
itr cams
competion sprug 4 puck clutch
rmf equal length header
k-teller stainless steel 2-1/2 full exhaust
NX directport 100shot
rc 370s (soon)
xs enginering ecu
14deg base timing
walboro 250lph
fuel pressure set at 52psi with stock injectors im gettin a plx300 wideband shortly along with my injectors...heres a pic...

Re: real nitrous questions (h22dude)
STOCK INTAKE..... EEEWWWWWW
The nitrous fuel dedicated system is the way go even on smaller shots (if you have the cash of course) tuning it is super simple and youll make the most out of both setups. You can run 100% on engine, and be 100% effect on spray as well with an intergrated timing retard module. takes away timing only when the nitrous is activated giving you the best of both worlds and not having to hack it so one way runs better than the other.
Ever watch your engine's fuel pressure gauge when a small 75 shot wet is engauged? if its set at 55psi constant, it can drop 5-10 psi for that instant when the fuel noid opens. Is it crucial? probably not all that bad,,, i just go overboard on everything i do and make sure its always done 100%.
