post pics of your welds !!!
That's called flux core mig magic baby
If it works it works. I wish I wasn't so picky about how my welds LOOK, because they are far from perfect. I just can't afford to shell out hundreds of dollars to Jotech everytime I decide to change something around!

how about the lincoln weld pak 100? 100 amp flux welder, 1/4" steel , for us beginners? its the only one my home depot has.... and i am hoping that for piping/exhaust work only its good enough if you dont care about pretty or spatter, is it strong enough?
Hehe not talking **** but damn dude I am constantly broke - I am trying to get a new engine dropped in here plus I have to buy a new turbo and all that damnit...I tell you what though, I still want some flyweight bling bling. When I have some extra cash I'm getting a Tial BOV and gonna have you make me a purty upper IC pipe from aluminum, I'll probably keep the rest of the pipes steel. Deal?

dings are NOT weld spatter, they are from the vice...
does anybody else SERIOUSLY get aroused when they see a good weld?
Not phsically, but...ya know...Stimulated...haha
speaking of that 4 link... there is about 18 feet of tig welding on it, and they all look gorgeous...
started out like this

hers a 8 inch section
and then the front
these components are designed for a desert race baja toyota. it should do 100 mph thru the desert for about 250 miles at a time. Turbo, standalone efi 22r

ya thats some of my stuff. actually i told geoff it was the magical welding elfs that did it, cuz i was supposed to be welding manifolds, not 4 links. they look kinda the same, so it was easy to mix up. my bad
Hey tinker,
Is it better to get a stick welder or a flux core wire(110v nongas) welder? I just need to weld two 1" pipes together to make a crash cage for my bike. The flux core one is $200 and the stick welder is $300. Which is easier to use?
thanks!

its a toss up really...
I HATE slag. I used my stick welder for two years and pounding slag away to find a nasty hole gets OLD.
but Flux core is shitty too. so choose between a pile of ****, or a heap of barf
spend another $50 or so, and get a MIG
even a crappy one w/gas capabilities is 10fold what flux is...

Ok here is my contribution to this thread. I already posted some of these pics in another thread but here they are again.

Anyone have tips for building a DP back exhaust? I just ordered all the bends and an oval turbo muffler. Any tips that might make my first one go smoother? I'm useing a lincoln 135 MIG. I love my mig
here's an older mig I did. Best all around welder for a general do it yourselfer wanting to do exhaust work, intercooler piping, even manifolds and stuff. Hobart 135

and after about 3 hours of tigging ever. still needs alot of work but definately cleaner than anything thus far w/ the mig.

I even tried to crossstich. full race style yo! lol I wish.
