OK I need some help. I'm trying to enter the turbo arena with my little sohc vtec. I bought a used Garrett T3 that came off a Ford Thunderbird. It has an internal wastegate. I didn't pay much for it so I'm not too worried and I plan to rebuild it before using it. The problem here is that when I checked to see how the turbo would bolt up to my car... I found if I mount it so the compressor side on the passenger side of the car (like how it should be) then the compressor outlet would point towards the engine block. I've heard from some that you can turn the housing to make it fit. The thing I don't get is HOW and IF it can be done on the turbo since it has an internal wastegate. Can someone tell me if it's possible to turn the housings as some have said or is it impossible and will i have to try and sell it on Ebay and get another turbo that will bolt up right?

The turbo actually sits like the one i have as my avatar. I need it so the compressor housing points downward. Is this possible to do with this turbo?

There are usually 4-6 bolts on the compressor side. Just loosen all of them and you should be able to rotate the housing.

i have the exact turbo in your site, and to answer your question yes it is possible to turn the compressor housing.
on the back of your compressor housing there should be 6 bolts. 2 bolts for every bracket like plate. loosen up all 6 bolts slighty just enough so that you can start rotating the comp. housing and thats all there is to it.

The compressor has nothing to do with the wastegate.

no need to *sigh* Rob... i'm just asking a question the reason i was asking about the wastegate thing was because the bracket for the wastegate is ON the compressor and i was wondering if when u turned it if it would turn the whole thing. Thanks for the replies guys.

Well, for one, I am sorry cuz I'm just in a pissy mood. I have a test tomorrow that I totally forgot about and now I'm trying to give myself a crash course in STATS. That's just one reason. Another is that people on this board dont take me seriously some times just cuz I'm not a Honda owner.. 3 people backed up what I said and you still questioned it.. it's all good. I'm just pissy.. ok cool. no hard feelings... the only reason i asked again is cause i told somone that but they thought it was an external wastegate even though i told them it was internal, then they said they didn't know if it would work then if it was internal. good luck on the test... now stop replying to my post and go study!
