Default Performer X with Turbo?

Hey guys,

So I'm building a 84mm ls/vtec w/ stock port on head and 5angle valve job on a b18c5 supertech valvetrain and itr cams along with a gt35r. Aiming for 450whp to 500whp
Assembly starts on monday.
While reviewing my checklist, one of my buddys noticed my Edelbrock Performer X intake manifold and asked me why I chose that one over the Victor X
I told him that I will only be reving to 8500rpm so I will right in it's power range, unlike the victor x which is more efficient from 7000rpm to 10000rpm.
My friend insisted that the victor X will flow better on a turbo car and he insisted that I can rev much higher than 8500rpm because of the build head.

Now what are your thoughts on this?
I searched honda-tech before making my descision on buying the performer x and after everything I read I really thought this was the right one for me.

Also, the reason why I don't want to rev over 8500rpm is because of the b18b block. The block is sleeved with cp pistons and eagle rods however I'm worried because of the ls crank and no oil squirters. I'm I correct in my thinking?

The car is a daily driver and it sees the dragstrip on weekends.

Let me know if what I worte is not clear of if more information is needed

having an LS crank & no oil squirters has nothing to do with the ability to rev higher than 8500.

Your normal limiting factor in reving higher as far as breaking things is making sure that your rod bolts arn't stock so that they will not fail and that your springs in your head can return the valves fast enough so that they will not float.

As far as it being worth it to rev the thing higher, if your not making power above 8500 then it's not worth it, you may as well shift. But if your able to make power in that range (usually based upon your cams), then you may as well rev till you stop making power.

Your friend is right about your setup being able to rev higher. You might wanna lookin into swapping for the victor x mani but i wouldn't say that it's going to hold you back either way.

Hope this helped.

as far as power production goes the turbo is usually the limiting factor on how high in the rpm band you make your power, the 35r even with a .63 housing will make power up to 9k, my motor and turbo make power up to 9k but i am more than happy shifting at 8500rpm myself, do what you feel comfortable doing, and like Running925 said the performer X wont really hold you back too much, i would just rock it but if you can trade someone for a Victor X that may not be a bad idea but i would not pay again for a new mani.

I got ARP 2000 rod bolts, I'll see on the dyno how high I can rev while still making power! Thanks for that.

So far replies are positive. Any one else have an opinion?

I have the performer x on a 9:1 81mm gsr revving to 8300 boosting 12-20psi via a 60-1 .63/.70

I am adding valve springs and retainers coming up so I can rev to 9k and I have a GT3082R that is going on it as well.

I am very happy with the mani. I port matched it to a 68mm tb.
