i bought an oil pan off someone here nothings wrong with it. it's in good condition the problem is i cant find the right bolt to fit on to the oil pan fitting. my original return line had a 5/8" fitting on it, and he said the bolt on the pan fits a -8 AN fitting which is a 1/2" fitting. so i go to home depot and find a 5/8"to 1/2" extention and it fits too loose. so i go with the next size down which is a 5/8 to 3/8 extention and that wont even screw on to it. So my question is do AN fittings have a different sizes or something. will i have to buy a new -8 AN fitting for my oil pan fitting side?

these fittings/lines are spendy but well worth it. also id change up to -10 AN because ive heard smaller lines can cause detonation

First off, what type of pan is it? That could help us tell you right away. If it is just a stock one modified, then post a pic to see. Becasue you are saying that it has a -8AN "bolt" on it? -8AN is not equal to 1/2". They only compare those two size for the ID of stainless steel hose. So are you saying that you actually have a -8AN female fitting on the pan?

OK then if I am understanding you correctly it has a -8AN male welded to the pan. So that would tell me that you need to get a -8AN female fitting and some line to go from the turbo return to the pan.

Something like this for the hose ends:

i already have an oil return line just the wrong size fitting to go to the oil pan. so your saying all i need is the -8 an female hose end?

That's what it sounds like to me form everything that you have said. Now what type of oil return line do you have? If it is stainless stell, then you will need a diffrent line then what I pictured. If it is the "socketless" style or "push-on" then the pictured hose ends will work just fine.

Yea what he is saying is take it to a fab shop and have them remove the -8AN fitting and weld on a new -10AN fitting. You are correct that a -10AN fitting will not fit on a -8AN fitting. Obviously it would be easier to just get the -8AN fitting and install it.
