Re: oil and watter colling turbo (sycamore)
um, yeah. ok.
if there are 4 ports on the turbo, it is an oil cooled and water ( 1 t ) cooled turbo. if it lacks 2 ports, it is oil cooled only. it depends on your turbo.

You drunk or something, water cooled is not spelled watter colled.
That aside, yes you need to run both water and oil lines to a turbo that has them. The water cooling keeps the oil temperature at the bearings down, so less chances for coking.

it is NOT a must to run the water lines to a water cooled turbo. but its a good idea to. im not running the water lines on my car, but im planing on doing it next year.

Well the housing isnt designed to be run without water, the cavity will store heat as air is an insulator, water takes that heat out. I would think the housing isnt gonna like the added heat stress, nor will the oil nor bearings. But its your pick.

its not like it hard to get 2 t's and 2 fittings and like 6 feet of hose to run the lines... but alot of water-cooled turbo's are in factory turbo'd cars. Its a little bit of a buffer zone and helps when the car is just shut off without letting the oil cool down some. If i were i would just run the lines though, better safe than sorry, 15 bucks to run the lines or 500 for a new turbo, you choose
