I dont know how you figure you would be worrying all the time about the obx breaking and not the quaife? They both have lifetime warranty on them, and both CAN break.

its not whether the lsd is warranted or not.Its whether or not your transmission will be an good once it does break.

normally 1.7's but after I put the diff in I also added nitrous and need to learn to drive the car again so I can stop spinning um so hard. (but when it spins the car still goes dead straight and doesnt drift off like my peg leg did)

I bought an OBX LSD, I'll ***** this thread if I want to.

Frankly, since most everyone in this thread is here because they've heard LSDs are good, and because of the cheap pricetag, you can deduce not everyone is entirely up to speed on the subject - personally, I'm still not. I think some of the somewhat-off-topic discussion fleshes out the subject and lends perspective. We can have a nice, tidy, all tech, all on-topic thread in re OBX LSDs in a couple months when we actually know something about them.

i just purchased one today for the 00 Si tranny I picked up last week. should be a good experiment, purchased 00 Si tranny for 150 with busted diff, get lsd for 359. now just have to buy a few bearings and should be ready to go.

i already have the tranny broke down and cleaned up from the spider gears breaking, just awaiting the diff to arrive, bearings & axle seals were ordered yesterday.

This is so funny.. I paid $250 for my mustang lsd and its taken countless launches on slicks and never broke, it will never break.. Why exactly should a fwd unit cost so much more? They do the same thing after all.

That is just because of the BS import mentality that expensive is better. There is no difference between the import and domestic lsd other than the people buying them. Hell even the domestic company rape the imports..

No spider gears in an LSD, stunna...

Still not sure how the unit holds up to long term abuse, I'm thinking metal fatigue when I say that, but the design appears robust enough.

I'm going to say a cross between hybrid hatch's and XDEep's opinion on desired longevity is where I am at... I'll be driving it on the street as much as using it as the shop drag car.

</TD></TR></TABLE>

Again I come back to actual cost of these things.. $350 is a decent but not a great price. There is no reason this can not be a great piece that holds up to years of abuse. Odds are that the manufacturer of this does them for some OEM applications and these should be of similar quality.

well my gsr tranny works fine, my friend had his 00 Si tranny that had his diff exploded, he was going to sell it just for the case, so that was 150 bucks, and i got a tranny that had all working gears. Dropping 359 shipped on the diff wasn't that bad, plus it has a lifetime warrenty. If it dies, then i'll rebuild the tranny and sell it. Either way, this is my weekend warrior and I can always drop my GSR tranny back in, so for me, its not that expensive of a project, i get to try out a b16 tranny to see if i like the gearing any better. sure if it dies and i love everything i will be out some bucks, but hell. I'm not going to get a chance to try another tranny for this cheap anyways, so its worth it to me.

I was hoping to get the lsd in this weekend and have the new tranny back together, but looks like the diff wont arrive til next week. Maybe next weekend i'll try to do everything at once and rebuild the tranny and replace the tranny on the car.

Good point.

Well, I have the oil drain plumbed to the new large port B18A, turbo mounted on Overblown-Teg's manifold, OBX LSD installed in Blundar's old transmission, and I'm a set of spindles, a driver's upper ball joint, and some tuenaring from raising immortal Cain on the public streets.

Here's to way too much moxie and not nearly enough brains

Sweet.. Pics brotha.. I can't wait to hear how this thing does.

I was thinking the other day. why would adding the lsd not instantly decrease 60ft times? Hybrids got much slower which seemed really odd to me.

Ok, It would have been nice to see a similar test with the same tires and setup to see how much the lsd gained.
