Test it out by pressing on the throttle on the throttle body and looking at the bov. Sound like your vacuum source is bad.

what bov are you using? Does it have an adjustment screw? If so, is it too tight? (i.e. screwed in too much?)

try loosening the screw (unscrewing it some) and test it. Don't do it a lot, but try little by little.

Open it up and check the diaphragm for wear and tear.

I had the same problem, and it ended up being a hole in the vacuum line...so you might wanna check the hose, could've melted somewhere

its the greddy type s bought it new. no leaks in the vacuum just checked it.adjusted it to soft but still not working. havent installed a boost gauge yet and i think its boosting just a little maybe thats why it doesnt have enough pressure to push the valve in the bov?

before intalling the bov i tried pressing the valve to open using my fingers (curiosity) and its pretty stiff. can be the bov defective or this is just normal? does the boosted air from the turbo help the vacuum on the bov open the valves or is it just the vacuum that opens it?

the vaccum line came with bov and it has its own vacuum source

Where did you buy a greddy type s brand new? Last time I remember the greddy type s was discontinue for a while now. Are you sure you it's not the greddy type rs bov instead?

Well, you can alway open it up and take one of the two springs out. I had to do this to my greddy rs bov too as it was too stiff and I would get compressor surge with part throttle.

What turbo are you running? How high of the rev did you rev it to?

you'll never create boost while revving standing still because there's no load on the motor, therefore your BOV will never go off. Especially running that t3/t4.

You really need to get a boost gauge! this will tell you whether or not you're in fact making boost!

And yes, check the vac line. No greddy type S I've ever seen has been too stiff to blow off even 7psi from a t3/t4.

Because it's a GTI running a turbo the size of a pencil eraser.

My sc34 make enough boost to blow off at idle. Nothing like how a eclipse does it but can still do the job to check if the bov is working.

then something isnt' right, you shouldn't be able to do that, or your BOV is adjusted too tight.
