VACUUM ISSUE - BOV NOT WORKING
My son just put a Greddy "style" bov on his '95 Civic. It worked fine for a couple of weeks. then, overnight, the vacuum on his boost guage went from the 'normal' 21-24 down to 10-12. We replaced all the plastic tees with metal ones. We replaced one vacuum line, and snipped and re-seated the others. We did not replace them because the chick at the parts store told him the size she gave him was correct. It was too big. (don't anyone say that's what she... you know) Vacuum went up to about 15, but the bov still did not work. We then noticed that there was vacuum at a small hole in the underside of the bov body. We could hear it - we could not before. My son plugged this hole and now vacuum is back up to about 20 - not where it was and bov still does not work.
This is a replacement engine from Japan with supposedly around 40k on it. It was just put in last Spring. He was using a Turbo-XS valve. It worked fine but did not sound the way he wanted it to. (that's what you get for fixin' it if it aint broke...). The turbo is a Greddy, with a supplemental conputer, new fuel rail, fuel pump, hi-energy coil and an intercooler. I can post pictures later if they would help. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated .
