Noob question.... Turbo on, how to get to tuner???
Hey FI
I've been wanting to go FI for some time and have been doing so much research but i have one quick question. Say if I slap a greddy kit onto my sohc, and decide to tune with hondata and not the blue box. How do i get my car to the tuners shop with out boosting so i cant mess up the engine and with out towing cause i dont want to spend the money?
I know i've read somewhere that if i disconnect the wastegate the car will not boost. Since the greddy kit comes with an internal WG, how do i go about doing this?
Any info greatly appreciated and thanks for helping a noob to the FI forum.

if you disconnect the gate the thing will not open. if it doesnt open, you will over boost. leave the stock ecu in there with the stock injectors, and drive civilized to the tuner. it is possible to do that w/o getting into boost.

boostedcivicsir is correct, dont disconnect the wastegate hose. heres an idea if u have a bov flange already welded take the bov off. but still you cant drive hard. i just thought that one up, BAMN!

you can take out the spring on your waste gate.
as you konw the gate when closed allows the system to build boost. If there is no spring holding the gate closed it will just open right up and leak out all your boost = no boost!
when you get to the tuners, just put the spring back in

greddy kits come with internal wastegates
if you disconnect the actuator from the flapper on the downpipe the flapper will just chill and it will stay open because the actualtor normally holds it closed.
what u need to worry about is just not driving hard because if the engine makes enough boost that the hole in the wastegate assembly isnt large enough u actually still might be able to build seom boost because greddy kits do come with fairly small turbos.
just dont drive hard and u should be fine

20 miles is a no sweat, but if you are so worry about it. you can tow it there, 20 miles wont cost much

if you contact your tuner he should be able to set you up with a base map to have the car tuned say that you will be able to drive the car to him. and just dont beat on it on the way to your tuning appointment.

When you create a massive leak you induce high shaft RPM's. Just unhook the wastegate (so it stays open all of the time) which will prevent EM pressure from building up. EM pressure controlls IM pressure.

Re: (MI KENT)
I drove 2 hours, just didn't give it enough throttle to go into boost.
If you wanna be safe, take out the wastegate spring like said.
