Default No boost in neutral? Is this normal?

When my car is in neutral and I rev the engine it never goes in boost, not even close. I can quickly rev to 5k+ rpms and it's around 20+ hg vacuum. However put a load on the car in gear and drive and it jumps right into boost from around 3500 ~ 4000 rpms.
How is this possible?
I also noticed first gear doesn't go into boost easily, really have to get on it to load up the motor.

I see vids of guys online reving their motor and their BOV going showing they were just making some boost. I'm just curious what's different with my setup?

Very possible. Its because the ones that you're seeing online are typically so small, and can create vacuum in neutral that it creates just over 1psi to make your BOV pop off. In the Honda world, that is not the case. You must be under load in order to do it.

And no.. there's nothing you can do to make it do that.

those guys u see being able to make the bov heard have very small turbos that can make a little boost without load. what your experiencing is perfectly normal, actually if u bounce off the rev limiter u may be able to get some but why lol. u need load to make boost thats why dyno pulls are in 4th gear. all the other gears seem to make it earlier because one the turbo is already spinning and 2 youve got proper load.

edit, ninjad by shodan lol.

Doesn't hondata have anti lag??
And think of it this way no load equals less gas to spin the motor, once there's a load more fuel to get all that weight moving equals more gas threw your turbine.

hold it on rev limiter for a while, you'll see boost

It does have anti lag. My understanding is that it changes fuel, squirts excess I think, and then retards timing a lot so you get some ignition in the exhaust manifold and the rapidly expanding gases there will spool up the turbo. I've also read it's really hard on a turbo and bad for it so I have yet to mess with those options.
