3. the 300 hsp version (dealer installed option)of the neon will probably end up costing close to what an sti will cost(about 32k) and i know you don't wanna go there.
5. the neons factory front mount is not 1% better or more efficient than the wrx top mount. besides, with big power, on either car, you would need an upgrade.
I very much disagree with both of these points.

Dodge isn't stupid, they know who they are, they won't even try for that. Try closer to 24-5k. Ya maybe with dealer mark up - at first they might ask for that much, but they aren't gonna get it. That's as much as a S2k.

And you're gonna tell me the TMIC of the WRX is better than the FMIC of the Neon. Ok, you're really reaching here...

The rest of the post I agree with.

Mine's simple... It's a Dodge and I will never be seen driving a Dodge (past experience).

Outside of being a Dodge and my biased negativity towards them. I'm sure it will do real well. It's a fast car at a great price.

Now the WRX thing... yea, I'ld buy a WRX long before the neon, and yes you can get a new 03' WRX for $23,000 and that's with short throw shifter, boost gauge and arm rest (my boss just got one).

aahhh man, your messing up my arguement. i had him. lol. yea, the top mount isn't the greatest, but it is efficient for stock boost. it would be difficult to compare the 2 intercoolers cause the dodge isn't even out yet, we don't know its size or efficiency. i will say though, that the dodge will not be 19,900 out the door running low 14's. and it will be a decent amount of beans for the stage 3 factory upgrade. the factory install/labor alone will be out of sight. but that is just my opinion. we will soon see.

you can EASILY get a wrx out the door for 24,000-24,500....taxes and tags. they've been out long enogh now and with the sti and evo coming along with the dodge and others, they(subaru) are much more eager to move them.

basically it comes down to opinion. and mine is that the wrx is a much better buy and you get much more for your money. no one here has adequately been able to dispute that. and i am still standing behind the fact that you will not walk into a dealership and walk out with the srt-4(the ones in the magazines right now that run like 14.00-14.20) for 20 grand out the door. thats just not gonna happen.

dodge is hitting a home run with this neon. it's gonna be cheap, fast. this could easily be the new honda civic of late 80's to early 90's.

the car no doubt with the stout block put out some serious numbers. i wouldn't doubt these cars doing mid 12's very reliably. maybe not for 50k but just long enough as most car enthusiasts need until they get bored and move on.

only suggestion i'd give is to stay away the first year. until the small problems come up with new models and taken care of in it's second year of production.

agreed, hondas are putting out **** these days. the rsx type s is nice, but at $23k+ there are plenty of other options on the market.

I agree that Dodge has stepped up and brought a cheep fast car to the market at the right time.
But its still a Dodge a guaranteed to spend more time in service or the oil change bay being topped off than on the street.
For under $20000 I wouldn't buy anything but a 1.8t GTI.

As much as it hurts for me to say this... to the new neon. Just think what Honda could come up with if they had some freakin' *****. I am so dissapointed in what Honda is coming out with that it may be time to look elsewhere.
Maybe we should all go to Japan and smack some of Honda's corporate "gurus" heads together!

the new neon is tight, but dodge had to up the liters and provide a bigger motor, and boost it just to keep up with a 1.8 n/a honda, eh...remember when the ITR came out in 97? it smoked all the stangs that year and they had a v-8, domestic comapanies just need to leave the import sceen to imports, there trying to hard with their neons and stupid focuses...oh but wait, we imports have something comming to, its called a lancer! which is going to smoke ur vette comming back from the grocery store.

im wondering what 1.8na hondas the neon is trying to keep up with?

whats the power of the VW 1.8t 170hp? Mazdaspeed 170hp, the neon blows em both away

im sure for a small investment in suspension mods one could drop stiffen and LSD it and make it a real world contender, i do agree that they should have called it something else and not a neon...just call it the SRT-4 and scrap the whole neon image, or call it a Stratur for crying out lout
