need input on building an engine
I blew a hole in my #3 piston on my b16 in my 99 civic si. I currently have 8 psi, and plan to go to 10 by the time this is said and done. I want to build up the bottom of my engine so that there is no possibility of this happening again, but I dont know a lot about what stuff I need. I want to keep this as cheap as possible. Can I get some suggestions on what I need and what brands to go with?
Thanks in advance

Make sure that the "cheapest" way is the right way! Talk to earl...get you some pistons, rods, sleeve it...do you know why you blew a hole in the piston at only 8psi?
I just blew my motor last week also, but I'm actually happy about it, b/c now I get to build for 500whp. I am probally going to go with AEBS sleeves and move on from there.
Sleeves is a little much for 10psi. However, if your rebuilding the same block, you may not have a choice. CP pistons, crower or manley rods, and some tuning would be ideal for you (tuning be the key word).
BTW, prior to breaking the engine, what fuel setup/engine management were you using?

Sleeves won't hurt even at 10psi...besides, he won't stay at 10psi...cp pistons, crowers or pauters are good too...if you are going to do it might as well go overboard..hehe

I was runnin the vafc hack with 440's and a wideband. I think detonation got me.
I am gonna go hondata first thing

Sleeving block= waste? Haha...would be more of a "waste" to pull the motor twice...all I'm saying is if you have the motor pulled then might as well sleeve it...I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't. Can you?

How about money? If you're not going to run at a level where sleeving would be absolutely necessary, spend the money you just saved on tuning.

How much does sleeving the block normally cost?
like i said, i have no intentions of going over 10 psi....i just want to do the bare minimum to be safe cause money is a major issue here

I think I paid like 950 to get my block sleeved...I wasn't going to do it at first but a talked to earl on a whim and decided I wanted to do it...I'm glad that I did too...
