NEED HELP: Oil pressure low need help ASAP
Hey guys, i have a glow shift oil pressure gauge. My oil pressure seems to be very low and im not sure if it is the gauge or maby the bearings in my motor..
Im usually at around 40psi in 5th gear at around 60mph,(gsr trans) once it gets very warm it may drop to sometimes 30-35. Also at idle when warm it is only at between 5-0 my car idles at around 1k. This seems to be very low.
Iv checked my oil and its right where it should be. I use 10w30. My oil pressure gauge is hooked up through a T one end going to my block, the other end going to my turbo feel line. (I thought that maby this has something to do with it?)
Anyways its a built motor, JE pistions Eagle rods arp head studs. The motor was professionally built but im not sure to where the oil clearances were set. This is why i am curious about this problem.
1. im hoping that it is just a cheap pos boost gauge
2. If not maby it has to do with the way i have it hooked up with the T?
3. If not maby i should switch to a heavy weight oil like 20w?
Somebody please help!!! Also, (The motor runs very strong with no smoke what so ever)

Re: NEED HELP: Oil pressure low need help ASAP
i have 10psi at idle when my oil temp is at its highest point, also running 10w-30. If your gauge is sitting on 0 at idle then you may want to change your oil and check the filter for metal deposits just to be safe.
It could very well be the gauge, put a mechanical gauge in place of the sending unit and check it manually you should have around 10psi increase per 1,000 rpm. Im thinking of going to a manaul gauge inside my car, my needle on my electonic gauge recently started hanging
