yeah find out, if its the weld, weld it some more or use some jb weld. If its the fittings make its tight and/or try some teflon tape. You might want to double check that the braided hose was properly installed...i had a mishap with that

Do NOT use teflon tape on an AN fitting. They seal on the taper, not the threads. If you put tape on the threads, you'll probably keep the taper from seating and make it worse. My guess is you have a pinhole in the weld. Either have it rewelded, or clean it up good, JB weld it, and cross your fingers.

If its not what tyler said, consider this longshot:

AN fittings are designed for 37 degree flare sealing angle, however there are some AN "like" fittings that have a 45 degree flare sealing angle out there. Make sure the male fitting welded to the pan is a 37 degree fitting. If there is a problem with the sealing angle, there are very thin soft copper cone gaskets that fit these fittings. I called them Vorshan Seals for years, but I could not find them on the web. Earls has them here: http://www.mpsracing.com/produ...s.asp

here, let me draw it. the red lines are where the oil initially comes out from the lines, flows down the FRONT side of the pan, then goes horizontally at the BOTTOM of the pan, and the drip is where the yellow piont is.

Cracked flange nut or the AN fitting... The weld looks fine. Not a pretty bead, but it looks like you got good penetration.

All else fails, clean up the area real well, and use a different fitting...eliminate one thing at a time.

Smooth over the surface of the weld with some JB...that should take care of the pinhoses in the weld. This is what I did and it worked!

9 times out of 10 it is usually a bad weld. Did you try to eliminate the drip while the car is running ? Oil only flows if there's pressure, presssure only exist when the car is running.

I'm having the same problem. Mine looked pretty similar to urs. I had it welded, then it leaked so i jb welded it. Still leaked. Used different fitting and a different line. Still leaked. I do have teflon tape on it. I guess i'll try taking that off too. I friend of mine and i drill out his pan screwed in a regular brass fitting and jb welded it and he's having no problems. I dont get it. good luck to u though.

i really dont agree, except for the bead part. how can you determine how good the penetration was when you havnt seen the inside of the pan? that looks like someone just squirted some wire at it. im sayin weld leak.

clean it all off with brake cleaner then see where the leak comes from. looks like your oil pan gasket leaks too.

your saying if its the weld itll only drip when car is running?
ive never tried to see if it drips while running. but when i stop and
park the car either from a drive or just overnight, ill see dripps under
it. im not even sure if it ever stops. but when i leave it over night itll make a stain
about 1 1/2 " in diameter.

The area above the drain, where the oil pan meets the block, looks pretty saturated.

How is your compression on the motor? If you have excessive crank pressure the oil pan gasket can blow out causing oil to leak especially after the car is run hard. I had the same problem as you and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. My guess was either front main seal or oil pan gasket. It was indeed the oil pan gasket and would leak only after high rpm runs.

YEA ******* WERE REALLY GOING TO TAKE ADVICE FROM A MORON THAT TYPES IN ALL CAPS AND TALKS LIKE A RICER/HICK.

/yourself

But you may have a point with the welds. It could be the fitting attached to the pan... try using some teflon tape.

WELL IM NOT A RICER HICK BUT IF YOU WOULD LIKE I WONT TYPE IN CAPS. Although i am a welder and have been for 10 yrs now i know a good weld when i see one, that looks like ****, i could do that in my sleep, well it would look better. But yes i am far from a hick.

I had a similar problem before like yours, it ended up being a pinhole that was leaking. My problem started out with a few drops and gradually a tiny puddle. You should raise your car and jus carefully observe the area around the weld, and if you notice where it leaks, seal it up
