Default need advice, Build my b16b or buy a b16a? Uk owner

Ok... heres the situation. In dec i was going to go all out NA, so i bought a b16b and dropped it in. I then decided to go Boost.
Im running a log manifold, Garret t3/04 turbo, 2.5" downpipe, Hondata s300, tial 38mm waste gate, HKS BOV, Walbro pump And im running 8psi. ALL ON STANDARD ENGINE...
Thing is im running standard injectors for now.. im buying rc 550cc injectors, aem fuel rail and FPR and im getting a new ACT clutch as the present one started slipping on the first run!!!!!!

Anyway... due to running standard injectors etc... im running a very conservative tune and only revving to 7000 rpm because the injectors are maxed out...

Anyway, my plans are to put in a 1.8 ITR crank and put in some 9:1 comp pistons and forged rods. But people are telling me to just buy a cheap b16 block and build that, as the walls in a b16 are thicker and stronger than a b16b? Is this true??? My b16b block only has 35,000 miles! What i also like is the head and intake mani of the type r engine and i dont think i would have the money to upgrade all that if i build the b16 block.

What do you people reccomend?
Buy and build a b16a block (prob only fine one with high miles)or just build my present b16b block as it has a better head and really low miles.

Sleeving is not an option as the UK is just **** for it!

What do you all reccomend as you all know what your talking about... Ive done my research and read a load on this site and has all been helpful... Just want extra help

THANKS

Josh

rather than ruin a B16b which has decent resale value, buy a B16a and build it...then sell your B16b. You could just boost the stock B16b though...

How cheap are B16a's in the UK? They are really cheap in the US, I paid $50 for a rebuildable short block a while ago and a friend of mine offered me another one for free.

My first boosted motor was a cheap B16a, which was good, because I blew that thing up in a hurry. I've currently got a godawful expensive Dart-block B22 boosted motor, but I still like a B16a for a cheap turbo street motor, the bang/buck is great and they are pretty reliable if you are conservative and take care of the tuning. I'm actually putting one together now with some cheap LS pistons and a $50 set of GSR cams to use in a 4-door EG as a 250 WHP turbo street car. B16a rods are also some of the better stock B-series rods to use for boost, short and thick.

Disclaimer - I know little of B16b's, as I have never had one, so it may be great too, but I have seen that they are nowhere near as cheap as B16a's.

great idea you should be good for about 400 safe whp with that (assuming you have adequate fuel/tunning)

well a complete b16 long block can cost from £200-800 so roughly $400 - $1600. It all varys on the condition and miles etc....
I do not car about resale value as that doesnt bother me.

I really need to know...
Are b16 walls thicker than b18s... is this because b16s used a b16 block (obviously) and a b16b uses a b18 block just uses a smaller stroke...

I dont see why i should boost this b16b block if i build it as a 1.8 with low comp etc... as long as the tuning is gd, shouldnt it be just as reliable as a built b16 block...???

What would you do in my situation

i would sell it and get a used gsr block or ls block from USA and have it built there.

I´ve been running 10 psi on my stock itr for over a year, but since it only has 36k miles im not gonna have it built, thats why i ordered a sleeved/built ls shortblock and im going ls/vtec.

if you're not worried about the extra downtime get another b18c block and build that

i do care about downtime... I need my car everyday!!!

Im not one of those people that cares that the b16b is a special engine!!!
I think im going to chuck an ITR crank in with some nice forged rods and low comp pistons, some APR head bolts and i think i am ready to turn the boost up to 16psi!!!!

The engine has less than 35000 miles so i think the engine is healthy!
